Had lunch while visiting Cambridge. Food was good. Service was acceptable. Unfortunately, the staff propped the restaurant front door open; we had to fight fllies for our meal, ultimately they won and we lost. We left our lunches half-eaten.

The restaurant offers pleasant outdoor seating, but unfortunately our cocktails never arrived -- and the waiter made it sound like that kind of oversight was not uncommon. The food was good. I especially recommend the lobster risotto.

We expected the restaurant to be overcrowded before the music and celebrations for 4th July. But other than the full patio, the restaurant had patrons at only half the tables and we had the full service and attention of the staff. Atmosphere was quaint and the menu large enough to please anyone. We had a wonderfully lazy meal, with excellent... More

Enjoyed a table in the bar where the AC felt nice on a very hot day. The hamburgers and the crab cake sandwiches were very tasty. There's a nice outside patio and a dining room also. It's a short walk from the Harvard Square T line.

Popped in out of the sun and stayed a while. The place soon filled up outside, in the bar & the main restaurant. We had a couple of salads after a cooling beer. Great atmosphere, helpful & friendly staff. Also good value.

The food my boyfriend and I had at Red House was good, but poor service made our experience negative overall. It seems that since we are young and not ordering drinks (how the restaurant probably makes most of its money) our waiter decided we didn't deserve or care about good service. We were asked twice when we ordered food if... More

1st Night: The food was amazing and the service was great. The server was very nice and have me amazing recommendations. I had a little of the drinking lobster rigitoni and that was one of the best pastas I've ever had. I also split the maple salmon and the duck. They were both stellar. 2nd Night: I went there a... I enjoyed sitting outdoors on the deck on a warm summer night; air conditioned indoor seating also available. My lobster chowder was excellent: plenty of tasty pieces with the right amount of cubed potato and a lovely creme sauce (not too pasty). All washed down with a large pale ale, brand forgotten but well suggested by one of the bartenders... More

An interesting menu of farm fresh ingredients. The grilled octopus was as good as what we have in Astoria, NY. Delicious pasta. Good service on a brisk but busy early spring evening out on the patio. Table was tiny and wobbly but the ambience was worth it. I had oysters and found a tiny pearl!

Very nice restaurant with a rustic feel. Food was very tasty and well presented but a bit pricey for the portions served. Not necessarily a deal-breaker. Seems like a good place for a romantic dinner or a nice evening with friends.

Description
The Red House specializes in locally-sourced, European & Mediterranean inspired cuisine. Our seasonally changing menus features a variety seafood, poultry, and pasta dishes, many of which are prepared with greens and vegetables from our organic farm in Winchendon, MA. In crafting the restaurant's menu, owner Paul Overgaag and executive chef Marc Plourde have chosen to bring fresh organic foods and locally produced ingredients to center stage.

In addition to our main dining room and bar-area, the Red House also contains three intimate private dining rooms which can comfortably seat between 8 and 14 guests. Perfect for your next family or business gathering, each of our three private rooms features authentic period detail, with fireplaces and original wide pine floorboards and woodwork. Additionally, we are able to provide customized-set menus for private diners and events as needed.
