This was the second year I visited this restaurant. I dinned twice there and had late lunch of oysters three times, this year alone. The salads are absolutely wonderful, fresh and delicious, the meat is terrific and the oysters were particularly tasty.

I came by chance for lunch at Red House; I chose a Half sandwich and soup of the day, everything was fresh and delicious

I loved it that I stumbled upon this place when it was cold and raining. It was nice to enter a quaint, cozy cabin with a fireplace. Loved the rustic and homey ambience of this restau bar. The food was ok. I ordered octopus salad and lobster chowder. I've had much better pulpo, this was one was on the rubbery... More

We were at The Red House before, but after this experience we will not come back. The octopus was like leather, literally not edible. We sent it back, and to be fair, they did not charge for it. The waiter confided, that other people had complained about the octopus before, yet they still kept it on the menu. The tuna... More

We have been here before and always liked it but this time it felt like a horrible chef has been put into a nice environment. The octopus was so rubbery that you could no longer cut it with the knife provided (when we mentioned this to the waiter, he said "yeah, others have complained too" ...). I ordered the tuna... More

This is a truly lovely establishment in a historical location at Harvard Square. There's a number of very interesting Mediterranean and generally fish inspired dishes but there are plenty of meat, chicken and pasta related choices And the oysters, well, they're superb. Polite service, good and not prohibitive wine list. We have plenty of that around the square...

Oysters between 50 ct and a buck a piece. We had triploid Duxbury's, a dozen each, and they were mindblowingly good. The Sauvignon blanc from the Loire Valley fits nicely and the food we had subsequently was also excellent. Plus the boys who served us were in the nicest way accommodative and friendly. Perfect!!!

After a day of walking around town, grabbed a seat outdoors on the terrace and enjoyed a lovely glass of rose & a few small plates fresh oysters, cocktail shrimp & waffle fries! Recommend it for casual and quaint.

Nice ambience, very attentive staff. The food, however, was very mediocre. None of the four dishes we ordered stood out. Given the hefty price tag this was rather disappointing. Would not go back.

we'd been wanting to try this place for some time and when we finally visited, the general reaction was 'just so-so' Decor in the first room is traditional New England and cozy. the back room looks more like an IHop. There's a nice outdoor seating area. Food was ok-nothing to get excited about. Overall we were disappointed.

The Red House specializes in locally-sourced, European & Mediterranean inspired cuisine. Our seasonally changing menus features a variety seafood, poultry, and pasta dishes, many of which are prepared with greens and vegetables from our organic farm in Winchendon, MA. In crafting the restaurant's menu, owner Paul Overgaag and executive chef Marc Plourde have chosen to bring fresh organic foods and locally produced ingredients to center stage.

In addition to our main dining room and bar-area, the Red House also contains three intimate private dining rooms which can comfortably seat between 8 and 14 guests. Perfect for your next family or business gathering, each of our three private rooms features authentic period detail, with fireplaces and original wide pine floorboards and woodwork. Additionally, we are able to provide customized-set menus for private diners and events as needed.
