I get a waiter can turn a table faster when it's a solo diner but this was horrible. Perhaps she was giving me room or studying in the break room, but the service was bad start to finish. Started off with folks skipping in front to check the menu though they didn't "see me" waiting for a while, so they... More

We went here for celebratory Oysters and Drinks after a month long stress adventure. I had the lavender cocktail that was DELICIOUS! Their happy hour deals are awesome as well. 1/2 oysters for your first dozen, and $5 shrimp for 6 collosal shrimp. Great place for a quick pit stop!

We arrived 24 1/2 hours early for our reservation for a special dinner before a play athe ART. We had made the reservation for the wrong day. But, the staff was great. after a few minutes they made room for us by setting up another table for us. the food was fantastic, I had Seafood Stew loaded with muscles, shrimp,... More

Small venue, feels somewhat european with about 10 indoor tables, bar seating and a patio. Highlights are the oysters (a deal at $1 per and even cheaper during the week before 6), and an open fireplace which was very welcome on the chilly evening we were there. We were celebrating with a birthday dinner, oysters, mussels, duck were all on... More

Dear friends treated me and my daughter for dinner at the Red House. We had the oysters for entree and I had the lobster risotto for my main. Sumptuous and delectable! What a treat!

We had a quick but delicious lunch on Saturday. We shared some apps - mussels hombre and scallops - and shared a main (Maine crab cake sandwich). The two apps were perfectly cooked, with delicious sauces. The crab sandwich had a lovely combination of flavourful crab and nice spicing. Wine was reasonably priced, and the service was prompt, friendly and... More

Stopped by for a quick dinner without reservations. We were lucky because it was early and we could get in but I would definitely recommend reservations as the restaurant was nearly full as we left at 7:30...even on a Tuesday night. Service was prompt and when I did not like the glass of wine I ordered, I ordered a different... More

On a quiet alley off Brattle near Harvard Square, the Red House was a residence for over 200 years. It retains that flavor and feels cosy and intimate. Nice date spot, although both my visits have been with adult family. The back dining room has a large sky light. The front room with wooden bar has a fireplace. I combined... More

This is one of those restaurants which wasn't bad, it's just that there are so many better restaurants around and you have to decide if the value (certainly the bill was less) delivered is worth the decrement in presentation and quality. Details: Great deal on 2 oyster for a buck and shrimp cocktail for $5, BUT things went down hill... More

A cold February Saturday evening, and the night before I'd walked right by The Red House, making a mental note of the board outside advertising their oysters. Tonight, with some delightful company, I was able to sample their ambience and food at first-hand. We found a table for two in the first dining room - the one with the welcoming... More

Description
The Red House specializes in locally-sourced, European & Mediterranean inspired cuisine. Our seasonally changing menus features a variety seafood, poultry, and pasta dishes, many of which are prepared with greens and vegetables from our organic farm in Winchendon, MA. In crafting the restaurant's menu, owner Paul Overgaag and executive chef Marc Plourde have chosen to bring fresh organic foods and locally produced ingredients to center stage.

In addition to our main dining room and bar-area, the Red House also contains three intimate private dining rooms which can comfortably seat between 8 and 14 guests. Perfect for your next family or business gathering, each of our three private rooms features authentic period detail, with fireplaces and original wide pine floorboards and woodwork. Additionally, we are able to provide customized-set menus for private diners and events as needed.
