Cambridge’s premier Seafood Restaurant featuring the largest raw bar in town… Summer Shack was opened in May 2000 by chef Jasper White on the outskirts of Cambridge in a spot once was occupied by the infamous Polynesian Restaurant, Aku Aku. It was a shock to many customers from the former Jasper’s Restaurant, a fine dining establishment that opened on Boston’s Waterfront in 1983. White tablecloths, soft music, elegant dinnerware and pristine food presentations: gone! Turn up the music. Haul out the picnic tables. Bring on the fun. At Summer Shack, rustic dishes like steamed lobsters and crabs, fish cakes, clambakes, fried chicken and burgers are served alongside modern preparations influenced

I have been to this restaurant often over the years and always had a good meal. With so many new places to try, however, it has been some time since my last visit. On the spur of the moment, I made a reservation for this...More

It’s been several years since our last visit to this location. The food and service were excellent. After 12 perfect oysters I had a lobster Chinese style. Wok cooked with ginger and scallion. Yum! Carol had their Clam Chowder and also liked it.

When in Boston, I suppose you expect every seafood restaurant to be great. We were the guests of Boston residents who used to visit this restaurant often and they loved it. They haven't been in awhile. This location had lots of potential, but it didn't...More

Great food, reasonable prices and excellent service. Nothing to complain about. Our party of six was welcomed warmly and seated even though three of us were still 15 minutes away.

Typical tourist place. I ordered lobster mac and cheese supposed to have a lb of lobster. Not. Wife had clams which were good but dwarfed by the french fries. This would be good if we paid a third less for what it cost. Im not...More

I tried Summer Shack for the first (and last) time this week. I seldom write reviews, but had to tell you what a horrible rip-off we experienced. $44.00 for a one pound lobster that had no meat in it. Give me a break. Lobster prices...More

Good service and choice of drinks. Fried Sea Bass was disappointing — mostly bones with little fish and a high price. Side dishes were unremarkable.

The seafood is fresh and delicious at Summer Shack. The burgers are terrific, too, and the housemate chips are a real treat. The waitstaff is well-informed and engaging. Menu prices are very fair, especially for Children's Meals, which boast generous portions, including a drink and...More

This was not a typical meal. We were here to celebrate a friend's birthday. The "meal" consisted of steamers, a lobster roll, and the pan roasted lobster. Each went well with the beers! The steamers were good but a little dry. The tarragon mayo lobster...More
