The waitress attending our table (604) today Monday November 21th was excellent, professional, gave us a real conference about the tomato’s farm and all the ecological process

Had heard wonderful things about this place. I did not have a good experience. It was extremely crowded and we were "sandwiched" into long tables with barely enough room to get to our tightly spaced seats, while people were balancing bread and plates of hot...soup. There was another garden room with individual tables that looked more appealing. I like their mission but filling the place with tours this way is a mistake. (Note: the bread is delicious.) Perhaps I visited on the wrong day.More

We stopped here as our first stop on the golden circle trip. Someone gave a talk about what they do here, it’s very interesting. We sat down and had the tomato soup and some delicious bread - very tasty and just what you need to...warm up ! There are Icelandic horses outside you can see up close as well. The little shop sells some delicious goodies for you to buy.More

Wonderful place, everything centered around tomatoes. Great soup, bread and pasta, as well as mussels with tomatosauce, and desserts.

This place was an absolute highlight of our trip to Iceland. It is so fun and different. We loved the setting inside a greenhouse filled with row after row of tomato vines. The whole place is beautifully decorated and a feeling of freshness pervades. The...tomato soup and fresh bread were fabulous, as was the service. Make reservations well in advance.More

A nice location with average food, except for the non-average high price. The menu is small and all based on tomatoes. Tastes are quite blend and nothing particular. The famous tomato soup is quite disappointing as we had great expectations due to its reputation. Staff...was generally nice except one that was quite rude. Cleanliness is about 2 out of 5.More

I wasn’t really sure what to expect. Our tour guide told us we’d be stopping here for a lunch of tomato soup and bread. I thought, “Umm, okay. I can go with the flow.” Plus I had a stash of snacks in my backpack to...round out my meal since I was sure I’d still be hungry afterwards. I couldn’t have been more wrong. WOW! So happy I wore my stretchy pants because I made to most of the all you can eat soup and bread bar. My favorite bread had olives and cheese on it. But there was equally delicious plain bread available as well. The garnishes at the table should not be passed up. Put a little butter and marinated cucumber on the bread, a dollop of sour cream and fresh picked basil in the soup, and YUM! The tomato beer was light and crisp, a perfect compliment to my meal. And the Mary Poppins cocktail was a fun, sweeter treat. This place is busy and they really pack you in but don’t let that deter you from a wonderful experience.More

Made reservations for lunch. Lots of tomato choices. Soup was good and only bettered by the fresh homemade bread. Waiter was very informative about the hot house process and all the types of tomatoes grown.

Came here with a tour group! The front reception area is small but once you entered you will be amazed with countless rows of cherry tomatoes. Started with a quick intro of the farm, hot water supply, bumblebee pollination… very informative , short and sweet!...It’s a brilliant idea to have a working farm and restaurant together. Tomato Soup is their signature you add sour cream and pinch fresh basil leaves, it’s heavenly! Freshly Baked Bread is another signature item, and they’re served with butter and their cucumber salsa! Sooo good, and the only problem is you can’t stop eating the soup and the bread since you can refill 😋😋 Then we watched a 15 minutes Icelandic Horse Show which is quite educational about their breeding and training! Amazed to see the full glass of beer didn’t spill while the horse is running in the field. Then you’re free to visit the horses and “talk” with them. Love this place! Above-n-beyond expectations! Highly recommended to everyone!More

Fun place to visit and have lunch. Everything has tomatoes in it but tastes better than you’d think. The tomato soup and varieties of fresh bread were amazing. Feels great to come inside a warm greenhouse after a cold day of sightseeing.

Definitely a fun stop to see how this family has taken the raising of tomatoes in greenhouses one step further. What a great little industry and they have made a unique dining experience out of it. We were greeted and taken to a section of...the greenhouse where the workings of the facility were explained to us and we even got to meet a box of their busiest "workers", bees. In another section of the greenhouse, we had a nice luncheon of tomato-based dishes. Food was okay, but it's the experience that is worth the trip.More

I am at a loss why there are mixed reviews about the food, the soup, all the food and bread are excellent. We stopped here as part of a tour and were greeted by the owner who gave us a brief history of his tomato...farm and the need to import bees to pollinate the plants. We tasted the product and believe me they taste second to non, best tomatoes i have ever tasted. We were then seated and sampled the tomato soup and home made bread all first class with regard to taste and presentation. Loved the basil plants on each table so you could add it to your soup to your own taste. There was a variety of other food items available but due to limited time the bread and soup were enough for us. They have a small shop and a bar so you cam sample everything tomato. Outside there is a pen which holds Icelandic horses and there is a riding demonstration at regular intervals. As a place on our golden circle tour i can say it is certainly worth a visit. Would certainly visit again given the chance.More

Everything about this place is unique and special. I love myself a good tomato soup and this place does not disappoint one bit. From grabbing basil leaves from a potted plant on the table to the green tomato ice cream, everything was delicious and well...seasoned. The place itself is amazing, having dinner between the tomato plants. Make sure you get reservations, this place is always full and they will not accept walk-ins.More

Welcome to Friðheimar :) We recommend to plan the trip from Reykjavík to Friðheimar as a 1,5 hour trip if you drive road 1 to the south and then road 35 to the inland. We always recommend to book in advance :)
