Local restaurant came recommended. The food was pretty good. The restaurant was quaint old restored barn. They charge for bread at the table but it is served with their amazing Icelandic butter. The rest of the group ordered their steak sandwiches and hamburgers which were served with french fries. They really enjoyed the beef dishes. I asked the waitress what... More

We ordered the volcano soup, lobster tails and steak sandwich and all were very good! Service was ok as well. A good place to take refuge from the blizzard which is what we did.

We were really hungry and had our dinner in this authentic place. It used to be a cow barn, you can still find some remains of this era. Burgers were made out of real cow meat, the portion of fries could be more. Same for salad.

We decided to just keep coming back here after the first night ... comfortable farmhouse setting, delicious food - Volcano soup my husband is still talking about, burgers were good, fish of the day was great each night. Try the Skyr dessert - yes it is probably overpriced, but it is a simple and delicious way to end the night.

We stopped here on our first day in Iceland and we are so happy we did. We love the atmosphere of the place and the volcano soup was delicious! It was served "all you can eat" with bread and jam. We will be stopping in on our next trip to Iceland!

We are a group of seven and we stayed in Iceland 5 days/4 nights. An unassuming, humble farmhouse right off the freeway, we didn't expect much. After the meal, our group of seven concurred that after 5 days in Iceland, Gamla Fjosid was the best restaurant. Homemade soups, hamburgers, carrot cake -- all divine. We had been to some of... Stopped in for lunch. The location is convenient. We were disappointed to learn that not everything is fresh and/or from the farm. The French fries are frozen from a bag. The cod was also frozen and from somewhere else. There were two pieces of cod on the plate... one tasted good and fresh and the other tasted bad. Burger was... More

This was a good spot for a local meal. The waitress was lovely and the food was quite good. We were doing Iceland on a budget so just did the burger and fries, but it was tasty. It was nice to know it all came right from the farm.

We had "hearty" volcano soup which was not only not hearty in food, but also not hearty in portion and especially for the cost as it was the most expensive soup we had on the island. I guess we paid for the excess salt that was used and made it even less desirable. The ice cream however is amazing (if... More
