Although the place in many ways appears as a "grab a bite to eat on the go" eatery, the place is actually the restaurant of a 4-star hotel.
We had delicious burgers: The burger (meat) appeared homemade (not factory type), salat was fresh and crunchy, dressing good, but the buns were the very cheapest type.
It was high season, and the place was very busy (waited 5-10 minutes for a free table), but the staff did absolutely nothing to make it a better experience, which they could otherwise have succeeded with, had they tried with just minimal effort.

Not a lot of option in Hella area but this one isn’t too bad. We cautiously stuck to burgers and simple options and they were very good and the service was excellent and attentive. Bistro better than the buffet upstairs which is more expensive.

We had a pre-set 2 course dinner where we could choose any starter and main. After being led to our table we were forgotten for 20minutes until a nice waitress took care of us. We ordered the lobster soup and my son the charcuterie for starters. Nothing wrong with the charcuterie, but the lobster soup is definitely too milky and not creamy as the menu suggested. The milk overtakes any flavor despite having nice chunks of lobster in it. The waitress noticed my disappointment an d suggested a compensation, which was very nice. For mains my son had an above average burger, while I we t for the lamb fillet. The lamb was unfortunately slightly overdone and therefore a bit dry, the portion was also rather small (maybe this was not a disadvantage). Overall one of the less favorable food experiences for us in Iceland despite the nice waitress which earned the Location my third star (otherwise 2)

I have ordered a medium rare steak but got more than well done, after complain I got medium rare in color but gummy tasteless thing which I didn't finish.
My friend got a chicken salad that she likes but she found a green piece of plastic in it. Looks like part of a bag that salad is packed in. Good that she noticed... They didn't charge for salad but seemed like they didn't care.
Don't eat there!!!

We were driving for a long time to have dinner because Maps information of the restaurant said it closed at 22:00. We arrived at 21 and the recepcionist man said it was closed. We showed him the information and he didnt mind. So i give the minnimun stars.

We had a group of 17 including 8 vegetarians so we made a reservation and sent in our food order a day ahead. They had a delicious Vegan Wellington. We were served soon after we got there.. Some of the group had ordered a salad with falafel. When they started eating, they tasted chicken.. Upon questioning the server, we were told they didn't have falafel so they substituted the falafel with vegan chicken! They did not think they needed to tell us before doing this.

The dinner was delicious and served very promptly. The starter was very subtile mixed taste of ham and fruit on toasted bread.
The main consisted of two large pieces of lamb.with a variety oif tasty side dishes.
The dessert was out of the ordinary, a revisit of skyr cake.
We also had breakfast the day after and it was the best I had in a restaurant for a long time.

Please do not waste your time or money eating at this restaurant.
Service was not good and food was worse.
Returned our beefsteak three times and every time it was raw. Served us cold soup as well.
The only thing good about your meal was the wine but even that was overpriced.
Drive to Selfoss instead to eat good quality food.

While we liked the food, what made the experience for us was the exceptional care taken by our waitress Monica. She was very friendly and fill of facts about the local food, drink and local activities. We really enjoyed ourselves.

With high expectations for the bistro and....it stood tall and rocked. Amazing lamb and beef though it was slightly under cooked but had great flavor. The desserts were great and the drinks....I got the biggest mojito ever and the taste was amazing and I am still slurp slurp :)

Standard menu for Iceland with slightly higher pricing. The Bistro was busy since there's not many restaurants in this area, perhaps less than usual due to covid. Food was overall good but Arctic char portions were pretty meager.

Me and my wife wanted a vegan food. My wife is also allergic to milk. We got very good dishes ( vegetarian hamburger and a vegetarian roll. It wan tasty. We got also very good service.

My wife just had the Caesar Salad 3.290 kr, which was the Icelandic version, I guess and wasn’t very good. I had the Dish of the Day which was Arctic Char 3.990 kr, which was good. The seating wasn’t all that comfortable and the setting was more cafeteria than restaurant.

I ordered the lamb shank. I'm used to the meat "falling off the bone" tender. This was not. A lot of cutting and chewing. Tasty though. The fish dishes were better. We were staying at the hotel and the weather was terrible, so not much option as to where to eat.

Smal nice restaurant in the Stracta Hotel but it was super cold there. I really think they have to change this, since we felt quite uncomfortable.
The food was quite good but the prices were also a bit higher. I had the fish gratin which was fresh and very tasty. My brownie was okay. The service was fast and nice.
