Fresh cod was delectable; fish soup was flavorful and delicious without being heavy. Sides of baked potato, vegetables and salad were all wonderful. And the service was warm and friendly. After a long day hiking this was a perfect dinner.

We came to Iceland for my birthday and this trip was over the top and unforgettable! My husband and I were sad to leave because this really was an incredible trip, incredible country and incredible people. So our last night in Iceland turned out to...be the absolute BEST, thanks to the lovely owners and employees of the Salthusid Restaurant! We have travelled all over the world, but never have we felt SO welcomed anywhere. . For dinner, we ordered the lobster soup and fish and chips...excellence on both counts. After dinner, we just didn't want to leave. Only one other couple at the bar so we decided to wander over stay for another beer. Well, turns out that EuroVision was the big event on and the owner tuned it in on the TV for all to enjoy. The Icelandic performers were in the top finalists, so everyone, including us, were cheering them on. By the end of the night, we were "adopted" by the owners and staff and Gunnar, a really nice fellow who sat next to my husband after the other couple had left. Throughout our whole trip, I had wanted to ride an Icelandic horse, but many stables were closed and the opportunity did not arise. I was lamenting to Klara (owner?employee?) about not even getting to pet the horses, and she said, "You can follow me to my home and visit with my horses". Unbelievable! Such wonderful hospitality! So there we were at almost midnight, the sky still light, petting Klara's horses at her home. I was overjoyed! Restaurant experiences are not just about the food. It is the owners and employees who genuinely give their best in preparing delicious meals and creating a warm and caring ambiance for the dining experience. This is what Salthusid is about. Thank you to everyone for this unforgettable dining experience, excellent meal, and for your warm hospitality!!!More

The staff was very friendly and gave great recommendations about the food. We had the fish of the day (which was the Arctic char) and that was really yummy! They also told us more about the erupting volcano nearby and some tips about it. Before...leaving, the staff also taught us Icelandic for volcanic eruption: alt gosh (phonetic), which should mean: Fire eruption. Thank you!More

Slow and bad service and the food was not good at all. Can’t recommend. We ordered the salted cod which was chewy, switched to the salmon which was way overcooked.

Waited over an hour for our food, which was painful with 2 hungry children. Food was fine, but wouldn’t return.

Friendly and quick service. Nice painting on the walls from local artist. I loved the freshness of the fish. Fish and chips are really cheap. The lamb was very nice. Pink in the middle as I like it. Everything spick and span clean.

I had a lobster soup for lunch, and it was incredibly good. The best lobster soup I ever had. The real thing with some big chunks of lobster in it. I really enjoyed it. The restaurant has a relaxed and warm atmosphere and the waiters...are very friendly.More

My husband and I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the food at this restaurant. The owner came out to greet us and was extremely friendly. He and his brother are also the chefs. Best lamb chops EVER! And the mushroom soup was outstanding. I had...the fish of the day which was Halibut, also delicious. You won't be disappointed.More

Went for a meal after visiting the Blue Lagoon. Very cosy, clean restaurant and very good value. Nice to be away from the crowds of the city. Well worth driving a few kilometers out of the way!! Thank you.

Salthusid is on 2 floors, and yes it is wheelchair friendly for the first floor, not the second, but the first one is for eating and the second floor is more used as a lounge. Hope this helps and if you plan on going there I... More
