This place has some of the best fish ever!! They cook it fresh and they have sides and drinks and it doesn't take long for your order even with them being busy

You do have to wait outside. You get a lot of fish on their fish plates. 2 people could share the fish plate just have to order side which was a lot 😀

If you're the type of person who's looking for what the locals eat and love, somewhere off the beaten path that isn't a chain, and that isn't food cooked in a microwave or something you can make at home, Carter's is the place to go. The friendliest people work there, and the fish is amazing.

You would never stop here without knowing how good the fish sandwich is. This is just a little "stand" outside of a fish market. It's not far off I-55/I-72. Just take the South Grand exit and go west less than a mile. If you phone your order in, it will be waiting for you and you won't have to wait... More

We stopped in for some fish on our way home from a short trip. I ordered walleye and my wife ordered catfish. We also each got one side. WE DIDNT EVEN FINISH HALF! Order one fish and two sides to share and that will be plenty for two. There is only one picnic table outside...no other seating. Most people take... More

It's good takeout food. They usually have fried catfish or walleye deep fried. They also sell locally caught fresh fish at a amazing price. No place to sit and eat. This is not a very safe area. So would be careful in night

Don't let the little wooden take out shack with the line standing in front of it scare you off. This is some of the best fish in Springfield. You will leave with a paper bag full of fish and fries.I think they are still only open in the later part of the week, and when they run out of fish... More

Saw Carter's shack and tried it at the urging of people waiting in line. Fish was fried almost greaseless with Cajun style spices. Sweet corn dumplings and fried okra right on the money. One order more than enough for two hearty eaters for about 10 bucks. Quite amazing. Went to a park to eat it.

THE best fried fish in Springfield. Fresh and seasoned to perfection, the catfish and walleye baskets are great. Enough fish for 3 sandwiches at a good price. Only problem is there is not a west side location. C-A-R-T-E-R-S!!!
