Best fish & chips I've had in years. My wife was equally pleased with her Classic Burger, and their French fries are addictive. Serving sizes were generous, and everything was fresh. The Coke brand soft drinks were greatly appreciated. We sat on their outdoor patio which filled in quickly on a Sunday midday, with the wait staff hustling to serve the crowd. Our order was fulfilled relatively quickly, and our server Skyler was very friendly & attentive. We will definitely return to Engrained brewpub when we visit Springfield again. P.S. - Be sure to enter **WEST** Lincolnshire Boulevard for your destination in any mapping app/device you use, or you'll end up over a mile to the east of the real location.

I've been drinking engrained beer before even moving to Illinois. Years ago I would travel all the way from Ohio to work in our concession trailer at the state fair. I got my first howler there and it was from engrained in the Lincoln stage.
Living just down the street from them now, I choose this place for a night out when I don't feel like cooking or don't have the time. And, though I don't drink nearly as much beer as I used to, the beer is still delicious! Lokal hops is my favorite.
Tonight I got a dish that they were out of the last time I visited. The donation creation flatbread ( which donates $1, this time to the pregnancy care center). Smoked salmon, lemon cream cheese, red onion, arugula, capers mesquite hickory smoked olive oil. Delicious!!! And for $14.00! Win win! Did I mention they source many if not most ingredients locally?
Do yourself a favor, stop in and enjoy the food, atmosphere, masterfully brewed beers or enjoy the extensive top shelf bourbon whiskey scotch collection!

This restaurant was recommended to us by a worker at Incredibly Delicious, (another great place to visit while you're in Springfield). It did not disappoint!
We had the pretzel appetizer with their homemade cheese dip, their signature "Shoe", and the salmon dish. All were fantastic. We had two of their home brewed tap beers, which were excellent.
Zak H. was our server and he went above and beyond to make sure we had a wonderful experience. Zak answered all of out (many) questions and did not rush us. Zak was attentive, without being pushy, and was the #1 reason I wrote this review!
Do not miss a trip to Engrained if you are in the Springfield area.

My wife and I had lunch here last Friday. We have eaten here many times and not encountered any problems. Unfortunately this time things didn’t go very well. There was one waiter trying to cover the entire place. While our food was delicious as usual the amount of time everything took was completely unacceptable. You could see that everyone felt the same way. I wish they would have told us when we entered that they were short handed and it would take an hour and a half to eat and pay our bill. It was over 20 minutes after we finished eating before we were able to get our check. After 10 more minutes we realized we wouldn’t be able to pay by credit card if we ever hoped to get out of there so we left cash and walked out. Terribly disappointing.

Let me just start by saying: our service was wonderful and the interior of the restaurant is very nice. However! Our food was not great.
We ordered several appetizers: the pretzels were great, the fried pickles were good, the cheese curds were okay, and the potato cakes were pretty good, but when it came to the entrees…
I ordered the Hawaiian flatbread and the BBQ sauce was VERY sweet and it almost tasted like a fruit sauce. The cheese was not good, just a bland meal. My husband got the Nashville hot chicken and it wasn’t spicy at all, his fries were great though. My sister went for the comfort bowl and her pork was very dry. My friend how the BBQ Mac n cheese and it was very watery and extremely bland - do not order this!! My brother in law got a steak and it was fine.
The beer was pretty good but not great.
Would not return.

We're passing through on the way from St. Louis to Indiana and decided to stop here. We're so glad we did. We had excellent service and food. First, if you're not from this area, they have a delicious food called "horseshoes." We've never heard of it, but when in Rome.... it's toast with your choice of protein, fries, and a pepper jack cheese sauce, then seasonings. Try it! Even if you order a plate for the family to share. I also loved that on the back of the menu, they list the local farms where they get their meat, dairy, produce, etc. It made me feel like I was helping more than just one local business, but many local families. If there's any critique at all I'd give, it's that the kid's grilled cheese was a bit too mature for my son's palette. He really just wants American cheese on white bread and instead he got a fancier bread, probably sour dough with cheddar....likely bc these are fresh ingredients. 😅 Overall it was a great stop. We would gladly stop here again on our way through town again and will for sure have to get horseshoes again!

Engrained is a farm to table restaurant that supports many local businesses with their partnership. Of course their beers are interesting, but so is their menu. For example they use the yeast from their brewing process to make the crust for their fabulous flat breads.

Disappointing. The dishes were simple. My wife had the chicken horseshoe. Fairly basic comfort food. Nothing special. Sauce is certainly something to improve. I had the Meatloaf. This is an entree they hype. Again disappointing. Very dry and the flavor was bland. The gravy was used sparingly, and the potatoes were stiff and Luke warm. Bottom line, there are better choices in the area. We have been here three times, and each time we end up underwhelmed. I imagine locals think it’s pretty good.

This was the second time my wife & I dined at Engrained, and we were joined by another couple for this Sunday mid-afternoon meal while traveling home. We were greeted & seated promptly, and our server Zak was very professional & friendly. The wings were very tasty as were the Classic Burger & the special pork sandwich, all with very generous portions. The only disappointment was the Caesar entree salad+chicken, with low quality lettuce & dressing that was more like a standard Italian. I'll stick with the sandwich choices next time.

I made reservations here for a party of 25 hungry wrestlers and parents while in town for a kids wrestling event.The food was great. Our waitress was awesome with us. She kept the kids happy and the parents happier. We will certainly return here next year when in town.

Had an excellent meal with a large family group. Loved the honey stir fry and the comfort bowl. The oatmeal stout was a hit all around!
Our waitress Skyler took great care us - she was very patient and responsive to our requests.

We LOVE going to this restaurant. The beer is great, along with amazing local food options. The cheese curds and black bean burger are two favorites. The icing on the cake is when Steve is working and we can request him! He is so much fun and just the perfect fit for our family! Engrained (and Steve) are truly gems in the city of Springfield!

I had my first Horseshoe here on this visit. It was amazing, with lots of cheese. You get your choice of meats, and I selected pulled pork, which was so sweet and smoky I would like to come back to try their pulled pork sandwich. The fried pickles appetizer I had was also delicious, with a consistency that made me think house made rather than from a freezer bag.
Great selection of beers, the two I tried were excellent.

Super cute place that makes their own beer. Beer is only $5 a glass!! My mom and I shared the harvest salad and Mikey's Hot Ham and they were both delicious!! We would not have been able to eat an entire sandwich on our own. Our server was so nice and offered us samples of the beer and gave us some great recommendations on what to order for dinner. We were a little sad that we wouldn't be in town another night to try some other dishes!!

Hubby and I LOVE going to Engrained! The staff is phenomenal, the food is off the charts and the atmosphere is so relaxed and casual. Highly recommend to everyone, with or without the little ones. All are welcomed here! Always plan to take home at least a little bar beverage (canned or bottled) and a to-go plate, always more than enough food! Currently, they are handing out Engrained discount "baseball" type cards for a huge discount on your next month's visit. Very creative marketing!
