This place was great from top to bottom. Food was absolutely delicious, super fast, large portions. The service was spot on, my coffee cup never went low

If you’re in the area, go to the Hen House for breakfast. This family run place is authentic and the food is literally served up hot and fresh. The portion sizes are very filling - you won’t leave hungry. The decor is kitschy with hens,...farm and country. There is a small gift snip tucked in the corner with books, small home decor items and candy. Pictured below: waffle, bacon omelet (stuffed with bacon), hash browns and biscuits and the short stack of blueberry pancakes (real blueberries).More
It's been sometime since I ate at a Hen House so I stopped in. I had breakfast of blueberry pancakes with a soda. The food was great and it was cheaper than most other places. Also the staff was friendly and the restaurant is clean...and looks like it opened today for the first time. It still has all of the decorations as a Hen House has on it's walls. I will stop here again when I travel to Southern Illinois.More
the service was amazing the fries were way better than the Hen House in edwardsville. The service was amazing and professional.
The place is amazing from the the food from the service to the calm and quiet atmosphere. You should come here it is a very nice place to come
We ate here for breakfast one morning. Upon entering the place was packed and we actually had a wait for a seat. I’m not sure why It was so crowded. Service was a little bit iffy, they put us under a duct vent blowing cold...air right onto our food. It’s a little outdated inside, Christian themed but not too bad. Breakfast was OK nothing outstanding. Probably wouldn’t return.More
We went here to eat we decided we both wanted a Chef"s salad. The waitress told us how big one salad was and said we should share it since it was so big and we are glad we did because it was huge. She was...very friendly and we enjoyed talking to her.More
Seating and service quick. Food served hot, fresh, and fast. Always ready to refill coffee and drinks. Restaurant was not overly busy, we were not rushed to leave. All staff friendly and nice.
Chose this restaurant because of location next to the Super 8 and because I like to try local, not chain, food when traveling. In hindsight, we wished we would have driven down the street to the Cracker Barrel. Lukewarm coffee, burned, dry sausage patties, hash...browns so crisp & thin they were hard to pick up. On the plus side, my omelette was good, service was great, and place was “quaint”. (But then, so is Cracker Barrel). Probably our last visit here.More
We stopped in for a meal as our hotel next door didn't have breakfast service. It was a quick yet good meal. I would equate it to a more rustric Ihop.
The restaurant had about four people in it when I arrived. All of the booths, tables and chairs are made of wood. I ordered the spaghetti and meat sauce. The meatballs appeared to be overdone and all of the sauce had been consumed by the...meatballs. There was absolutely no sauce. It looked like a plate of spaghetti with meatballs thrown on top. The taste was fair, but good have been a lot better especially if there had been spaghetti sauce on it.More
Our dinners were ordered and given to us wrong. Food looked like last weeks leftovers. I would surmise that breakfast would be better...but find some other place for dinner.
Neat little place. Good breakfast. Good service. We’ll most certainly return the next time we’re in the Capital City.
We enjoyed our visit, the food was ok. It's your typical little diner type place. The food is decent, and the service was good. The time between order and receiving was decent as well. Not sure if we would go again, but it wasn't a...terrible experience.More
