Found this place online en route. Overall, a pleasant surprise. We had stopped for an early dinner but wanted relatively light fare. To be fair, we are total food snobs. We both cook and look for flavor experiences we can learn from. Started with the lobster bisque. Good flavor, good soup. Didn't look or taste fake like some do but... More

Surprised that there was hardly any activity going on in Springfield on a Saturday night. We were looking some place for a sandwich/salad dinner within walking distance of our downtown hotel. This is a nice restaurant with great staff. Although the menu was more traditional dinner our waitress suggested the appetizer which was fish tacos. Hit the spot . Homemade... More

We were downtown touring Lincoln sites and popped into Augie's for a late lunch. We were not disappointed...excellent service that was efficient and friendly, nice ambience in that cool-neighborhood-gathering-place kind of way. I chose a pastrami sandwich and my husband had a burger. I was tempted by several other selections. There is also a farm-to-table dinner menu. Don't miss the... More

I've been here two or three times and each visit the food was very good. Generally I'm not the type of person so enjoy steak, but the steak I tried here was so perfectly cooked I had to admit it was good. For me, texture is a huge deal and it's so easy to screw up steak and make the... More

We decided to try Augie's Front Burner last month on the event of its second annual Vegan's Tasting Dinner, and came away well satisfied with the originality and execution of the 7 course, prix fixe menu as well as the service. Then, still enjoying the memories of the Tasting, we returned there a week ago, only to find that we... More

Walking the streets of Springfield after a tour of Lincoln's Museum, stumbled upon Augies. Wow. Wait staff was very attentive and our sandwiches were to die for: Pastrami and Smoked Salmon. Can't say enough to state how good they were. Only regret is that we don't live closer.

The menu had many items that sounded delicious. However, when our server told us about the day's specials, we quickly settled on the burger special. It arrived perfectly cooked, huge, hot & juicy. The fries were piping hot & delicious. This is not a hamburger place - it's so very much nicer - but the burgers are wonderful here. I... More

With a local "farm to table" focus, this restaurant has a variety of fresh menu items and specials. The chef is inventive and the flavors are always excellent. Lunch or dinner, you can't go wrong here.

We were there on a Thursday evening when they had a fixed price special menu. My wife opted for that while I ordered off the regular menu and both of us thought the food was excellent and a good value. While they have some normal fare they also have some interesting combinations...sort of fusion food. The service was very good... More
