W had not been to this long tome favorite for a long time but more than happy we returned. For locals there are many familiar favorites. The menu has many meat and fish choices so vegetarians might have a had time. Service is attentive and not rushed so you can enjoy the meal. The head chef a local personality may... More

This is a well established eatery. Be prepared for a leisurely pace. If you are in a hurry you will be frustrated. We arrived at 6:45 and left at 8:45. The bartenders are good. Martinis are well made. Stuffed olives are good. A bottle of Meiome pinot noir that goes for $18 in the store was $30. This is a... More

One of the three worthy restaurants to visit in Springfield, the others being Sangamo and Angie's. Feels like a French neighborhood bistro. Executive chef-prepared menu locals have visited for special occasions for generations. Charming location on one of the few blocks left in downtown Springfield that has been historically preserved.

Maldaner's is fine dinning in Downtown Springfield. The food is very good but more on the expensive side. I have never had anything bad. It's a great place to come out and celebrate a birthday or anniversary. they also have large party rooms that can be rented for big events.

This place is a classic. Went here for a group Holiday dinner and the food was wonderful. Drinks were reasonable. The ambiance is definitely old style but very nice.

My wife and I had dinner there a couple weeks ago. Service good. Food good. But in my 0 Pinyan Way overpriced. The final bill with Chip was an eye-opener and we didn't splurge. It exceeded Chicago prices. Was it worth the price? No

I was told this place is great for special occasions. My service was exemplary especially for a woman dining alone. The waiter was so attentive and suggested meal and wine choices to compliment each entree. The ambiance and service made me feel special and not self conscious dining alone. I highly recommend this white tablecloth restaurant downtown Springfield, Illinois.

We had booked the restaurant for dinner as the town was very full for the Route 66 car show. As expected when we arrived it was very busy and to start service was slow. However, once started our waiter was very attentive. I had a crab cake starter which was very nice with beef wellington to follow which was first... More

Maldaner's is one of the, if not the, oldest restaurants in Springfield. The vintage surroundings are beautiful and the service is excellent. The food is very high quality and preparation is extremely well done. A must.

Established in 1884, Maldaner's Restaurant and Catering is one of Springfield's finest restaurants. If you have visited The Old State Capitol, Frank Lloyd Wright's Dana-Thomas House or the State Capitol, you can imagine the wonderful celebrations Maldaner's likely was a part of at the turn of the last century and to the present day. Today, under the guidance of Chef-Owner Michael Higgins, Maldaner's respects tradition while offering the best of contemporary American fine dining in our historical setting. Chef Higgins features seasonal local and regional ingredients influenced by Mediterranean composition and preparation. Heirloom vegetables, humanely raised meats and Slow Food all artistically prepared and presented. Welcome to Maldaner's in downtown Springfield. We hope you enjoy your visit each time you dine at Maldaner's.
