Maldaner's is one of the, if not the, oldest restaurants in Springfield. The vintage surroundings are beautiful and the service is excellent. The food is very high quality and preparation is extremely well done. A must.

My wife and I went over to Springfield for an early (6pm) Friday night meal celebrating her birthday. We chose Maldaner's because of the food quality and ambiance. We love the old school interior and other touches that make this establishment a go to for an intimate meal. We did make reservations here on TripAdvisor though Open Table. That process... More

Maldener's has been consistently one of the best restaurants in Springfield Illinois. They do have daily specials which tend to be limited but very high-quality depending on the ingredients that are available in the local market. They do have several signature dishes that are consistently well prepared particularly steak dishes. They do have some vegetarian options on the menu and... More

We stopped by for lunch after visiting the Lincoln museum. Very cute sidewalk cafe with white table cloths. We split a turkey club sandwich which was huge. The homemade chips were great. The service was good but very slow. Appeared to be a problem with the kitchen more than with our server.

This is a great little place downtown Springfield. Menu was really diverse. Lots of options. Service was great. Our waiter couldn't have been nicer. The restaurant opens at 5. Even if there is a line of people waiting, it is still 5. I might suggest you seat your guests a few minutes early and tell them the kitchen opens at... More

Was looking for a nicer place for our anniversary. This looked nice and certainly had the price point we were expecting, but the food itself wasn't noteworthy.

Although this restaurant was built in 1886, it had an "old town" feel but had been nicely remodeled for these times. And still retained an elegant feel. All the wait staff were very courteous and attentive. The hostess also, was very friendly. The food was outstanding!! I highly recommend the cold/creamy shrimp soup and my fiance enjoyed the French Onion... More

Nice atmosphere. Good service and food. Pricey.... 2 entrees and 2 glasses of wine were $96 plus tip. The restaurant has been in business in the same building since 1884!

Large storefront windows give you your first glimpse of this historic restaurant. Once inside, the high ceilings, heavy furniture and dark wallpaper confirm you're in another time.Lunch menu offers a variety of sandwiches - one called a horseshoe that you'll have to ask about. I had a pimento burger - delicious - others did the chicken club (with curried yogurt)... More

Established in 1884, Maldaner's Restaurant and Catering is one of Springfield's finest restaurants. If you have visited The Old State Capitol, Frank Lloyd Wright's Dana-Thomas House or the State Capitol, you can imagine the wonderful celebrations Maldaner's likely was a part of at the turn of the last century and to the present day. Today, under the guidance of Chef-Owner Michael Higgins, Maldaner's respects tradition while offering the best of contemporary American fine dining in our historical setting. Chef Higgins features seasonal local and regional ingredients influenced by Mediterranean composition and preparation. Heirloom vegetables, humanely raised meats and Slow Food all artistically prepared and presented. Welcome to Maldaner's in downtown Springfield. We hope you enjoy your visit each time you dine at Maldaner's.
