The plates are small .. its happy hour but the food is very rich so it works..the regular menu in the evening is pricey and i have not eaten during this time but its the best happy hour in the city and there are too many restaurants overpriced in this town.

We were here with friends for dinner. Nice and quiet. When we went in it looked like there was place for a few tables only but there is a large area towards the left opposite to the bar. Good place to party with friends. The food was tasty, service was good. Loved the pasta, though the risotto was a bit... More

This was our second experience here (the first time was great) but our second time left much to be desired. Our server & bus staffers seemed to be in a great rush to turn our table over once they found out only one of our party ordered cocktails. The food (I had the pork belly pasta which was practically a... More

We have been going to Volterra in Ballard for years whenever we are in Seattle. The tasting menu is new, and excellent value. Don't miss the wild boar tenderloin. Only negative, sometimes the homemade pasta is overworked, hence tough.

The atmosphere is fine. It's all about the food. Where else can you get wild boar in gorgonzola sauce?Salads are great as well. Save room for dessert. You won't be disappointed in anything on the menu.

Drove to Ballard for a different restaurant but it had a long waiting line so we walked up the street to Volterra and were seated right away. The staff was very cordial and took our wine orders quickly. I must say, the wine prices by the glass are very overpriced. We all ordered the Bolognese. It was tasty with a... More

I have eaten in both the Seattle and Kirkland Volterras, and very much enjoyed the meals, but not for a couple of years. We stopped by on a Saturday night in Ballard and were seated right away. Our waitress was a bit distracted ('I have too many things going on in my head right now'), but the service was generally... More

Went for a late dinner with friends on a Friday evening. Expected to wait for at least 30 minutes, but miraculously we were seated at a table within a few minutes. Everything we ordered was flavorful and cooked to perfection. The scallop and prawn skewers were delicately grilled, not overdone. The lamb ragu sauce was the best I've ever had... More

A wonderful gracious dining experience. We sat for 2 and a half hours enjoying polenta with wild mushrooms, an excellent Italian red wine, two abundant main dishes, butternut squash ravioli and braised lamb shank. We were the first to be seated so our service was exceptional, mouthwatering dishes and no room for desert.

Volterra was, in our past experiences, one of Seattle's finer Italian restaurants. Our recent dining experience was a uniform disappointment. The cold cut meats appetizer lacked variety and was rather undersized. We each had a pasta and, while the pasta was appropriately al dente, the sauces lacked any richness or depth of flavor. Perhaps it was an off night. Regardless... More
