We stopped by Sam’s Tavern to grab a beer. It’s in a great capital hill location and lots of walking traffic passing this area. The place has its own unique decor. Plenty of drink selections and a small appetizer menu. The food is ok, good...customer service and good vibe.More

We came in on a Sunday afternoon (before a Seahawks game) and ended up leaving within 30 minutes. The bar was not crowded at all and did not see a single server except for the lone bartender. When we inquired about ordering, we were told...to return to our table. After waiting some more with no service, we left. There were at least three other tables in the same situation. The bar looked really cool. I definitely want to try it again sometime.More

Sort of a sports bar as multiple tv's were showing football games, food is generous portions and very tasty, can be rather loud at times. Seems to cater to a lot of after work crowd. Wait staff was very informative and attentive.

This is for the one on 9th ave. Servers tell you to sit wherever and then ignore you for 15 min. Watched the bartenders fill the bottles with mixers all while I waited for a drink. All the servers busy playing chatty cat with each...other. Food was ok, not great but not bad. I would go somewhere else. No management presence and no structure.More

SLU/9th St. location: Horribly poured drinks; unless you like drinking a glass full of Sweet & Sour. Worst Buffalo Shrimp we've ever had. Hooters is better; that's not good at all. Servers spend more time staring at their phones, gathered at a bar table and...chattering than serving customers. We will never go back, and would never recommend this place to anyone. Places like this give good taverns a bad names; expect better especially in this prime location.More

Staff are too busy looking pretty too serve adequately. The food sat for a while on the bar before being brought to us and my chilli burger was stone cold. Could not get anyone's attention to remedy. Drinks took forever too. Do not bother. We...won't again.More

I had been wanting to come here because o f the legendary Bloody Mary's, so one Saturday morning a friend and I did in fact go. I had the Eggs and Sausage (I believe it was called the Sam's breakfast?). The eggs were good...fresh...and yes,...it is possible to mess up eggs...eggs don't taste the same at every restaurant. These were good. The sausage was decent, not memorable, but not mediocre. The Bloody Mary? Disappointing. I will need to try again, next time specifying that I like mine spicy. That said, the cheeseburger garnish on the Bloody Mary was REALLY GOOD. This place has quite the reputation for its burgers, and I am prepared to believe it. Repeat? Yes. Gonna go back to get a full size cheese burger, and give them another shot at the Bloody Mary, with more guidance on my preferences.More

I'm not one to write reviews (this may be my first ever) but the wings here are incredible. Top 5 I've ever had. Burger was fire flame too but the wings are legendary.

The service was terrific, we had a couple of appetizers that were good and some drinks..my friend and I had a margarita and I swear it had no alcohol in it at all or very, very little. The margaritas were $10.50..so not too happy about...that. There’s fun music playing and big screen TVs.More

I have been to Sam's a few times now and the staff are consistently great. The food is good, but can be inconsistent, the burger menu is great but I had a healthy salad the last time I was there and it was excellent.

Great American hospitality here with good standard sports bar type food. Burgers filling and plenty of seasoned fries. Service good and friendly waitress. Bar is shabby chic and has loads of character. It's a studenty area so prices reflect that. This place also has lunch...specials menu which is great value.More

Decent place for lunch, but wasn't overly impressed. Sam's has traditional pub fare, but are particularly known for their burgers. I tried the Eggs Broadway Burger (beef burger, bacon, Vermont cheddar cheese, and a fried egg) and was satisfied with my choice. A perk I...was not aware of until recently was that Sam's offers bottomless fries with their burgers! Next time I will have to take advantage of that. Service was okay, but very slow. I'm guessing this was due to visiting at lunch time on a sunny day. If you visit during a busy time (lunch or happy hour), be prepared to be surrounded by flocks of Amazonians.More
