I grew up with Spud's and love their fish and chips. This iconic location at Greenlake has been torn down. The restaurant will reopen in the new building that will be built. So sad to lose this building.

We travel over 30 miles to eat here. Never disappointed!! Had a shake and onion rings too. They are a real treasure🐠🍟🏆
My wife is from Ohio and on a recent trip to Seattle I made sure she had a treat from a local landmark. Spuds had been a part of Seattle forever. Their homemade fries, hand battered fish and everything else makes every trip to Spud...a memory. My wife loved the fish. I always love the fish and chips. Wish we had one in Ohio! Thank you Spud for the memories.More
We came to this resto based on a Google search. It had good reviews and we were in the mood for chowder. Service is friendly and fast. Order at the counter and then it’s dished up. Get a seat upstairs for a great view of...the sound. I concur with others that the fish lacked any distinct flavor. I didn’t find it too oily, but it didn’t taste like...anything. The tartar sauce helped, but food should be able to stand on its own. The fries were soggy and oily. I’m a big spud lover, but couldn’t finish what they presented me. The chowder was as unmemorable as a Maroon 5 performance. The slaw, like the fish, lacked any real flavor. One thing I liked about this place is their initiative to compost and reduce waste. Almost every container (including the straw) is compostable. Let’s just hope these products really do get composted. If you’re in the area and are hungry, check the place out. But I’d venture off elsewhere.More
While the portion of fish in the Fish & Chips is good size, there is no flavor. The fries are soggy (yukk). The onion rings are very good and the fried mushrooms are ok.
Part of my reward for a long walk at the lake this week, was an overdue trip to Spud for clams and chips. The clams were cooked just right and tasted great with the homemade tartar sauce. There's something so nostalgic about the old location...they are in. The building is slated for demolition soon, but they promise to be back in the new apartment complex that will replace it.More
Stop by soon as Seattle's favorite fish & chips place will be closing soon as the site will be redeveloped. Happily the restaurant will be moving back after the new building is finished.
My wife and I love the walk around Green Lake. Nothing better on a sunny day in Seattle. After our walk around the lake we headed for Spud Fish and Chips, which is right across the park from the Lake. We had been there before,...but this particular visit was outstanding. We had a plate of Halibut fish and chips, and a plate of cod. We also had a cuo of chowder and a coleslaw. The fish was perfectly cooked with a thin crisp golden batter. The chips were some of the best we have ever eaten Long, crisp, obviously hand cut, with no dark culls or oil residue. The chowder was very flavorful with a good amount of clams. Now the coleslaw. It was probably the most flavorful ever. It was all green cabbage--no red cabbage or shredded carrot. The sauce was tangy and tasted of a bit of apple cider vinegar? and maybe pineapple juice? Any way it was delicious and nice and cold. What a meal. Go to Green Lake, enjoy the walk and the people, and end your visit with a meal at Spud.More
Well we wanted fish and chips. The ratings pointed to this little place just north of Seattle center...so off we went to check it out on the way home... Parking was great and at the back. (just lock up and put things out of sight...says the sign). Ordered Cod and halibut..unfortunately the fish was overcooked, greasy and tasteless. For the price it wasn't what we expected. We might be unfairly comparing this little spot to C-Lovers too harshly. Coleslaw was very watery and extra crunchy...sigh it's just slaw right? The chips were not a better fair...over cocked and not fun to eat... At least the beverages were on par... Perhaps after they have a major upgrade things will improve...More
We had a very nice man helping us decide what to get - I told him I was dentally challenged (can't chew anything right now) he promised to make the french fries so they would be soft. After we sat down I noticed the sign...for milkshakes - wow, just what I needed today. So both of my orders, the fries and the milkshake was perfect. My friend had the fish and chips and she loved it.More
