There are certainly trendier and more sophisticated spots in Ballard, but this holdover is worth paying for. The combination of good food, fantastic service and fair prices add up to a great breakfast experience!

Omelette was perfect, pancakes so large my buddy couldn't finish. Good coffee and good service. Noticed a bunch a stores nearby worth walking off a hearty breakfast.

Returning to Seattle for vacation, the first stop was this old favorite of some 25 years. Really nice folks, but ouch...what awful food. Pancakes tasted like cardboard as did the omelette. Over cooked eggs that lost their taste as a result. Pancakes should be easy,...More

Nice people in this diner and a recently renovated interior. But the salmon burger tasted like it was from Costco's freezer.

Salmon Bay Cafe is just off the trendy Ballard Market Street area but it's not your usual Ballard restaurant. It's the kind of place you want to hang out in for conversation for hours on end. Fishermen that just got off work mix with hipsters...More

Ownership has changed, they cut corners and the food is not worth it. I ordered and specified no cheese or sour creme on my plate due to a food allergy but the kitchen ignored the wait person's instructions. Then the meal came out and the...More

Salmon Bay Café's hip and fun staff serve traditional American breakfast and lunch (and soon dinner), great coffee, and beer, wine, or cocktails from our full bar. No small plates, no gastro-novelties-Ballard already has plenty of joints like that. Our goal is to offer something different: comfort food with home-cooked deliciousness. Great meals at great value! C'mon down to the waterfront and check out working-man's Ballard: fisherman-sized omelets, habit-forming seafood benedicts, two-fisted sandwiches and full plates for hearty appetites. We have great veggie options, too. Not hungry for hash browns today? Substitute a small mountain of beautiful fresh fruit. We bake to-die-for muffins on the weekends and we've got plenty of free parking-how many restaurants in Ballard can say that? The café has been serving the fishing and shipbuilding community since 1970, generating a loyal following. So when it's time for an update, we knew we had a tradition to uphold. We've renovated, but with an eye to preserving the Jersey Shore diner feel that our long-time regulars and new Ballard buddies love
