This review is not very easy to write. We went to FareStart for dinner. It was a guest chef night that is part of their community service/job training fundraisers for people turning their lives around. It is a fixed 3 course menu prepared by students, overseen by a guest chef, served by volunteers from the community. It was packed the... More

My wife and I ate at FareStart recently for one of their guest chef evenings. All I can say is WOW! The food was fantastic and the price is tough to beat. Oh, and the fact that the entire organization is about 'helping people transform their lives through culinary training and job placement programs' makes the meal just that much... More

It's just nice to support others on the right path and get a good meal at the same time. I went by myself and thoroughly enjoyed the beet salad. It was clean and fresh and flavorful AND healthy. I took my husband the next day. I had the salmon tacos and my husband got the steak. We both enjoyed our... More

The food at Fare Start was very good. Loved the tomato basil soup so much that I had a bowl after my cup of soup. The crispy pork sandwich was juicy and crispy and delicious. The restaurant has a mission as well--they train people who would have difficulty finding jobs. Only in Seattle. What a cool city!

This restaurant helps people develop skills they can use to get and keep a job. It serves healthy, delicious meals. The prices are very reasonable. I enjoyed the soup of the day - a spring pea soup made with coconut milk - and the grilled salmon.

In addition to the nobility of the mission, this restaurant is strategically placed right next to the new Amazon behemoth buildings, appointed with simple & tasteful decor. The food is very good (and relatively inexpensive); try the Nicoise. it was good experience all around, i will surely come back.

FareStart restaurant showcases a well know chef and celebrates graduating culinary students every Thursday night. The proceeds from every 3 course meal ($29) and all tips are donated to pay one adult student's total transformation experience at FareStart - training, wrap-around support services, and graduate support services lasting for approximately one year. We arrived for 1st seating at 5 pm... More

This cafe has a purpose. They are creating jobs and training people for work in culinary professions. The food is terrific, really interesting options well prepared. The service is similarly strong. Everyone is held to a high standard. They don't allow tips, instead asking for donations to the cause. Highly recommend checking it out if you are in the area.

FareStart is a great lunch spot if you have the time and inclination to eat real (not fast) food. Not that they are slow - they're not. But this is food which is well selected, well prepared and well served. Salads are interesting. Their grilled salmon sandwich is awesome. There are a number of great sounding vegetarian items on the... More
