Had breakfast here - corned beef hash, Sunnyside up eggs, toast and cappuccino. All very nice. Big portions. Loved the location and view, even on a snowy morning.

Our family are twice at Athenian at Pike Market Place over the past few days. The service was great and the food was delicious. We ate crab cakes, New England Clam Chowder in Bread Bowls and the Alaskan Halibut Tacos. As an added bonus they serve beer in frosted mugs. Our table had great views of Puget Sound and the... More

I first visited the Athenian in 1974. It is, perhaps, the only place in Seattle that hasn't changed a bit - and that is a complement. Actual working people - not tech folk, not bankers, - people who actually work with their hands. The food is wonderful working-class food. The service is prompt and pleasant. The view is spectacular. This... More

This place is great if you don't mind the crowds and a little bit of waiting for a table around lunch time. I would say the food is 4/5 (good, not great): we enjoyed the chowder bread bowl and steamed clams. Above all, it's great to enjoy an upstairs dining booth that is a little too small with its wooden... More

Visiting Seattle and hit the tourist trap area of Pike's Market Place. Stopped in Athenian to have lunch with my family. I was craving the King Crab legs like you would not believe, so that's what I ordered! A Pound and a Half. SO GOOD! Went back a few days later and got them again! Pricey at $52, but I... More

We went for lunch here while visiting Pike Market during our visit to the USA. It has a great traditional atmosphere which as a visitor was quite charming. We sat up on the balcony looking down on the lower restaurant and bar. We also had a nice view from the window of the waterfront below. A good position. We both... More

As a local, I love this place because it's nostalgic. It's true that it's kind of touristy, but it still retains a classic Seattle feel: it's not very large (so perhaps it's not great for large parties; we were a party of three the last time I was here) and it's not particularly adorned in a memorable way, kind of... The food portions are big during lunch. I always go for the chowder. It's one of the better ones around. Views of Puget Sound are great. You overlook the piers and waterfront area. You can see the Washington State ferries come and go and watch container ships also. On a clear day the mountain views of the Olympics are beautiful.... More

This is a must if you are in Seattle. It's located in Pikes Place market. The views from here are beautiful. The clam chowder is amazing, as all the food has been that we have tried here. The staff is great. We would choose to sit in Danny's section because we enjoyed him so much. We were in Seattle 6... More

My husband and I stopped in here for lunch. Even though it was lunchtime, we only waited a few minutes before being seated upstairs with a full-on view of the Seattle Wheel and ferries. I ordered the seafood gumbo and a small salad. My husband chose the fish and chips with salmon instead of the usual cod. The seafood gumbo... More
