On June the 4th, our 4th Grandchild was born in Marietta and this was our first Granddaughter. Give time to settle down and a couple of weeks later, we drove down from Cornelius to meet the young lady. After a full day with my Son...and his family and meeting Haylee for the first time, it was time for a leasurely evening with my wife. Even though they live in Marietta, we had booked out hotel in Kennesaw near Town Center Mall which is only about 5 minutes away so very comfortable. On a previous visit, we had attempted to make reservations at L. Marie's but were unable to secure a reservation at a reasonable time. By reasonable time, we were both tired from a day of driving and anything later than 8 pm was not what we considered reasonable. Speaking only for myself, I'm not 20 anymore. This time we booked ahead with enough time to secure a reservation around 6 which was perfect. Left the hotel with what we though would be with more than enough time to spare but we did not realize that it was as far North on Cobb Blvd ( US Hwy 41) as it is so we pulled over and activated the GPS only to find that we were less than a couple of hundred yards away. As it is, we got there right on time and were promptly greeted and seated by a very efficient hostess. Our server presented herself shortly and gave us with menu's and over the course of the evening, proved to be an excellent hostess. She had mastered the art of being in the background enough to be non intrusive but at the same time, insuring that our every need and want was met. Menu is what I would call modern South. Southern Favorite Comfort foods upgraded with novel twists to give a new prespective on flavor and textures. For example, for an appetizer, I ordered Fried Oysters. The Fried Oysters were excellent but what set them apart was the Cocktail Sauce. Not the slightly spicy ketchup type sauce you normally get, but a chunky tomato based sauce that bit back with flavor and a bit of heat. My wife ordered the Fried Chicken Salad and while generally very good, she was not a fan of the breading. That can be subjective because of regional tastes. My entree was the Meatloaf with sides of Sweet Potatoe Souffle and Greens which was actually a combination of two types not one. The Meatloaf was excellent with the exception of rather than a tomatoes suace, it was covered with a sauce more like a Bar-B-Que Sauce and then you get into a debate of Eastern NC, Lexington, SC, Memphis, KC Texas style etc. Problem was the sauce was more of a BBQ sauce which are somewhat intense in flavor and took away for the delicate flavor of the meatload. The sides were suppurb. The Sweet Potato Souffle was great and this was the first time I have had two greens served together. Asked for Vinegar which I got but would have been been better with Southern Pepper Vinegar. Good food with a very creative take on traditional Southern Cusine. Service was excellent and the decor was somewhat reflective on the antibellum South imagined by manyMore

For the last few years L'Maries was a place to dine. In the past, several dishes were worth recommending without hesitation. The last time we were there, the service was terrible, rude snippet waitress with a take it or leave it attitude. Cheated on the wine...we ordered but the worst was the food. The turkey wings must have been frozen and then thawed out. That is the only explanation I have for the watery, stringy, tasteless mess we were served. What happened to the original chef's food, the wait staff and the ambiance??More

Came with my grown family to get real southern food in a moderately priced upscale restaurant for dinner. They were from the area and just as delighted as I was! Great food! Loved the alligator bites, blackened catfish, squash casserole, meatloaf, tropical drink, peach cobbler,...fantastic reception and service, true southern hospitality feel… Pleasant decor, and I hear they will have music to add to their ambience soon.Wish I could squeeze in another trip before I leave town today. (I found the greens a bit salty, but I understand that’s how they are served up down here - to be expected and probably good for warm weather.)More

My husband said it was the best catfish he's ever had and that's saying a lot as we used to live in Louisiana. Great food and service.

From the moment we stepped in L Marie's the ambiance provided a casual, southern feel... very personable. Our server, Mandee, was absolutely awesome! Even with our arrival an hour before closing time, her energetic and friendly welcome was an epitome of a southern welcoming. She...was well-knowledgeable of the specials, recommended a few personal favorites, and kept checking on us during our entire visit. We had the alligator bites (fried) as an appetizer, the surf-n-turf, fish tacos, and homemade peach cobbler. The pictures do not give justice to the taste of everything. We will definitely be back on our next visit to the area.More

The food and service was awesome. The food taste absolutely delicious. The con is the price. I know you get what you pay for but I felt the prices were a little high. We (my family) has been looking for a really good meat &...veggie restaurant. Unfortunately, at these prices we may rarely visit this one.More
