We went on a Saturday night for some snacks and drinks. Loved the Seared Ahi especially. Drinks are stronger than they taste we discovered :) Live music was excellent. There is nothing that makes you feel like you are on holidays like having your feet...More

Have been to Huggos a few times to hear the music of Bolo. His music is worth the trip...but they have great drinks and food too, Bolo doesn't play every night, I would call to see the days he is appearing. Enjoy sunsets, music, food...More

A weekly destination for me. Aloha Friday isn't the same unless visiting for happy hour drinks, watching the sunset with da slippers odd and toes in the sand.

Great spot for watching dinner and sunset. Food is good. Service can be slow at times. Love this location.

Food was incredible! The waitresses were great also! Super friendly staff, beautiful atmosphere and best food we ate in Kona! Became our go to place once we went there for our first breakfast!

Service was friendly, food ok, Mai Tais were tasty. The sandy setting lets you feel like you're right on the beach. Live music was great, I just wish he started on time.

Can't complain about the view but the food is a typical 'Choke and Puke' type food. I guess if you were 3 sheets in the wind, the food would be excellent but it's not. Go there for a drink and the view. Mahalo!

Went twice on our vacation, based on the crowds we saw while driving by. The band the first night was 90's-pop and not the best, but the second visit-- whoa! A true old-school rock band with an awesome guitarist who played everything from Hendrix to...More

Good food and by far the nicest staff of all the restaurants we visited! Great view of Kona bay and a cruise ship and we watched the fish and Black rock crabs moving around below on the rocks. Would definitely go back again.

What a great place to have dinner and watch the sunset. Sitting at the table with your feet in the sand. The live music and hula dancer were a bonus. And the server's were great too.

Yes they do. It appeared when we were there that one half of the restaurant takes walkins and the other half reservations. We had reservations.

Description
Opened in 1998 in the waterfront location adjacent to Huggo's fine dining restaurant, On the Rocks is a come as you are, kau kau (eat) great food with sand between your toes, kick back and enjoy great island entertainment center of fun on Hawaii Island. "After operating Huggo's restaurant for 18 years, we had the opportunity to purchase the vacant lot right next door and we jumped at it," Eric says. "The concept is what you see today - a casual bar and restaurant set literally on the rocks and sand of Kailua-Bay. Like many locals, we were tired of driving 20 miles or more up the coast to enjoy this sort of relaxed resort ambiance and decided to create just that right here in town."
