This was the best Hawaiian meal we had in Hawaii and we tried lots of places. We had the kalua pork and cabbage, short ribs, and Korean chicken. All were excellent and in large portions! Even my teenagers were full with just one plate!

Daughter had the bowl - excellent. Our SN son loved everything, finished his omelet and helped dad with his breakfast. Very well prepared. Very kind staff.

It was outstanding and reasonably priced. Service was good, food was tasty and the parking lot was full. Definitely would go back several times.

This is our 5th trip to the Big Island with the last being 2 years ago. We found that some things have changed or are new but not the Big Island Grill! We've been twice already for supper and both times the service was fast,...friendly and excellent! The food is great and portion sizes are huge! Prices have gone up a bit but that's to be expected. Still a bargain. Both nights were $35 for the two of us including tip but no dessert or drinks. I highly recommend the Loco Moco and the Beef Teriyaki.More

When you see a lot of local people and families - you know its gotta be good! We were recommended here by the reviews on Tripadvisor. Good call. This was my first Loco Moco and it was amazing! The place is more like a local...diner. Service was good.More

This is not a flashy place; it's not on the beach. But if you want to go where the locals go, this is the place. The servings are large, the service is very friendly, and it's just fun to be there. We took one couple...there for lunch the day they were leaving, then picked up another couple from the airport and went back. We only had dessert the second time.More

We were in Kailua and wanted something good to eat for lunch. We had read review for Big Island Grill. It’s in a very prominent location with plenty of parking. There seemed to be plenty of choices for lunch and because it was obvious from...the menu that seafood was their specialty we ordered fried shrimp. I was pleasantly surprised at the tenderness of the fish. Not overly fried yet with enough crisp to remind me of what I had ordered. I prefer cocktail sauce with my shrimp and they provided a delicious tasting sauce. As a bonus, I selected the pineapple coleslaw as one of my side dishes and was very happy with my choice. I’m not usually a slaw person but the pineapple taste was just right and very original. All in all we had a great meal. They have a number of salad offerings that even though we didn’t order, looked deliciouslyMore

We go to BIG every so often, and are never disappointed. My husband got the BIG saimin, and it was great, and huge. I got the fish and chips. It was striped marlin and was spectacular. The french fries were plentiful and outstanding. I don't...think there is anything on the menu that isn't good. Highly recommend Big Island Grill!More

This restaurant was across the street from the condo we visited and was highly recommended. It really was good and there is a great variety of food available. The staff is very friendly and efficient and the food was fresh and abundant. It's almost like...a cafeteria so we were surprised it was a bit pricey. But you get a lot for your money.More

I wouldn’t. We had a larger party, and they tried to rush us. We had barely finished eating and they asked us to leave. They said they wanted our tables to seat others and told us to leave and go to the beach!

I don’t think they are expensive at all. Plates average around $8-10
