If you’re looking for HUGE servings this is the place. We had the Dixie Burger and seafood platter. Both were big enough to feed a family. The burger was one of the best I’ve ever had, and according to my east coast wife the seafood...was excellent as well. The view of the ocean from the patio is awesome, despite the construction noise at the time. The service is friendly and fast, with a hometown charm. Lots of little shops located along this street. Would definitely go again, hopefully when the road work is done! 🙂More

Jobeth did a great job as our wait person. The food was very good and wished we would have found this place a bit sooner. We enjoyed the Greek Salad and Mahi fish tacos

Their breakfast was fantastic. The sausage sandwich was one of the kids go tos. The grilled fish was fantastic, and a great way to start the day in paradise. Also you can look out on the ocean as you eat outside. The staff was pleasant...and attentive to keeping waters filled. Throughout the week we went here then had a bad experince at Lava Java and so for the rest of the trip we either cooked at the house or came here.More

You can dine along Ali’i Dr and watch the waves roll in. The Loco Moco was very good along with the Basic Bongo breakfast. The cinnamon roll was just out of the oven and was to die for.

Portions are good and pricing is not bad either. It is walking distance from Royal Kona Hotel. Try the Mai Tai

We went here specifically for breakfast as they have signs posted all over that they have been voted Number 1 for breakfast on the Big Island for the last 4 years. Arrived at 930am and seated facing the ocean right away. Ordered coffee and a...Bloody Mary drink. Coffee came and order taken but no Bloody Mary. Waited 10 minutes, still no drink. Flagged down waitress to ask about drink, said bartender was busy doing something else and we would get our drink when she was finished! Drink finally came with the food. We ordered the Bongo Basic (2 eggs, sausage patties, fruit and a pancake) and the "Famous Bongo Bennies" which is 2 poached eggs on ham on an English muffin with hollandaise sauce with their house potatoes. After having to flag the waitress down again to get syrup and ketchup we dug in. The Bongo Basic was good according to my husband. My Bennies were not. Poached eggs are suppose to be runny so the yolks spread over the ham and muffin, these yolks were cooked solid and could have passed for hard boiled. The house potatoes were just cubed frozen potatoes deep fried and covered in seasoning salt so much that I couldn't eat them. For being they're signature dish, it was a big fail. Service was not great and I will not ever be going back. Prices are up there.More

Bongo Ben shines at breakfast, but does well at lunch and dinner, too. It has a large outdoor seating area with a water view. For breakfast, I was pleased with a half stack of pancakes and bacon. My favorite dinner was a steak, cooked to...order, tender and tasty. The wait staff was friendly and attentive.More

Casual, laid back atmosphere. Service was a bit slow, food was good, didn't feel like it was super clean, but it is an open air spot, so that happens. I would try again tho.
