First time went the wait was long so we left, got lucky the next night. Friendly staff, sampler meal was great for 2. Beef ribs I liked the least but all were good. Baked beans excellent. Worth a stop if in area.

After visiting Joshua Tree Park, we read reviews for a place for dinner. The Rib Co received several good comments from visitors to the Park so we chose it for dinner. Despite the good reviews, we were disappointed with the ribs and sides; and not...simply because they didn’t measure up to Texas BBQ. We had both Baby Back & St Louis racks and both were over-cooked to the point of being nearly tasteless and dry. The baked beans looked and tasted like they were right out of the can; the coleslaw had no character or flavor and the cornbread muffins had the taste and texture of a commercial mix. As we left, I watched the grill cook put a ribeye on a cast iron grate that looked like it hadn’t been wire brushed in a long time. The grate wasn’t even hot enough to sear the steak. I also saw 4 - 1/4 racks of ribs on the grate. They were pre-cooked and looked they were being warmed & sauced to serve. From all that, I can’t help but conclude that this wasn’t just an “off night”. Make your own decision but I can’t recommend The Rib Co.More
My family and I go to Joshua Tree partly just to be rewarded with the honey cornbread muffins, baked beans, and triple threat racks of meat at this family owned and operated establishment. Such a delicious treat! Don’t ever change Rib Co.
Great barbeque place. We are here visiting Joshua Tree National Park. This restaurant was highly rated, and it did not disappoint. If you are in town you really should stop on!
Excellent ribs! Worth the wait! We've been here 3 times and the food is awesome... Get the half-rack of ribs and a baked potato! Great when you're starving after a day of hiking in Joshua Tree
I have been on a 22 year quest to find bbq that soothed my soul like the bbq I had in college when living in the south and sadly never has any bbq in the Bay Area ever come close. I have been told to...try Oakland but never had the chance to try any there. Hubby and I came across this place on our way back from Joshua National park and the pictures on Yelp looked good. So I decided let’s try it out. Obviously not a fancy looking place , kinda on a dirt road . In my experience that’s always a sign the BBQ will be good. Well we were absolutely not disappointed at all. This is the best bbq I’ve had in California. It’s possible there is better stuff but for me after 22 years this is the best. I got the baby back ribs , hubby got beef ribs, the grilled jalapeños were amazing. If we had space for dessert we would have tried it. Pups got the chicken wings . I would love for these guys to open a place near me in the Bay AreaMore
We had some of the best ribs and ribeye steaks that we've ever had! And, order the stuffed jalapeno appetizer, it's so f'ing good and is a great appetizer - heck, it was big enough to be a meal. We ate outside, which made the...experience better since we could smell the outdoor BBQ the entire time.More
We were dubious given it’s a very casual exterior on the highway, but our food was really good. We had ribs and a burger - both were great quality and delicious. However the service was very slow - it took about 30 mins to be...seated despite there being empty tables, and then another hour to receive our food after ordering. Also not suitable for anyone vegetarian or wanting a healthy mealMore
This was 10th tour of America. Only in America can you get 100% top quality beef ribs & or steaks etc. It's worth coming to America for the unique quality beef that you will not get anywhere else in the world. We were staying in...29 Palms for 3 nights we ate at the Rib Co on all 3 nights because of the lovely friendly service and the top quality beef ribs that I had on all three occasions. Do yourself a massive favour and come & eat here probably the best restaurant in town. Gets my vote everytime.More
Small restaurant with a big heart and family own and operated. The people are amazing and so friendly. Almost makes this Florida girl move to CA. Couldn’t find room for dessert but I’m sure it would have been fantastic. Went here while passing through, the...hotel (Best Western) I stayed in suggested The Rib Co. Take my word for it you WON’T be disappointed. Got there around 5PM which is a good time since shortly after that there was a waiting line. Thanks to all the ladies working and the little soda incident made it feel more like home. Hope to see you again some day.More
Small restaurant, very easy to find. The menu includes things like burgers, if you don't like ribs. My ribs were very good with homemade coleslaw. Our waitress was excellent. This is a very casual eatery and you can eat indoors or outdoors.
The food is horrible. It gave me, my partner and my dog an upset stomach. I should of returned the service was pretty bad too
Crazy-good smoked/grilled meats. Really, the meatiest, juiciest ribs ever. Huge portions. So many choices of sides, anyone could happily eat here. Unpretentious atmosphere for a world famous barbecue joint. Delicious cornbread with every meal. They even keep “sweet tea” on the menu, like they know...what they are doing with this genre of restaurant!More
Everything about this experience was great, the staff was extremely friendly, we didn’t have a long wait because we went at a down time but if a place is busy it’s usually busy because it’s damn good..and this place was damn good. The corn muffins...are the best ..and the meatloaf was good, ribeye was very tender..and the ribs were amazing ..I got the triple threat…they had the most meat on ribs I’ve ever seen!More
I have never been to a more crazy place like this. The owner has all these rules. No tables together but yet no bill per table. She was rude and unfriendly and extremely arogant. The staff mostly walked around like a prison ward. Only a...fee girl wher friendly but clearly trying to keep their jobs and supported the regime. The arogance of new guests passing every day makes the owner think she can do what she wants. In a normal community this business would be closed in a month. What an unfriendly atmosfere. Realy Alcatraz must have had a better regime and nicer wards. I feel badly insulted. I had no other options for food so we stayed. But never again. Dont go here. The owner has lost her mind in arrogance.More
