Good food in calm atmosphere. A very nice spot for a quick lunch. There's a decent menu of the usual sandwiches and such, so I'd say they specialize more in making your meal quick, affordable, and easy, rather than fancy or famous.

A group of 8 had breakfast here. We stayed nearby and just stumbled in one morning. Have to say, the BEST grits I've ever had. And I am a GRITS girl, so I know my grits! Keep up the good work! Sorry that they are only open M-F.

as a solo lady looking for some lunch in the CBD, this is not the spot. portions are huge and also quite pricey for a very average meal. men seem to love this place for some reason though, and theres usually a crowd, but i think there are just many better options for a $15 meal in the area.

We stayed at the hotel next door. Welty's is closed on the weekend. On Monday we had lunch - huge sandwiches, delicious soup, and a large, very fresh salad. My dad wanted to eat here every day but I explained that it's only open Monday - Friday.

Great atmosphere. Nice little sidewalk dining area for nice days. Broad menu will please almost everybody. All of the employees were super friendly. I ordered a 1/2 muffaletta and cup of gumbo and it was amazing. Prices were reasonable and service was fast! I would certainly return.

They really make you feel welcomed and the food is DELICIOUS. Was also the first real cup of coffee I had on my visit to NOLA.

Grilled cheese with tortilla soup special was very good, but I was astounded by the size of the salads I saw. It's quite busy for lunch, but I'd love to go back and try some of the salads.

I walked here from the Hilton to get some lunch with the locals. The place was hopping this Wed noon. The tables were all taken so I got mine to go and it was well worth it. I had one of the daily specials and it was wonderfully tasty and obviously fresh. It was great watching the owner embracing friends... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
