When needing a change from Creole/Cajun we found the Black Cat perfect. It was conveniently located just next to Frenchmen Street so we had a tasty meal & headed there after. Waitress was very attentive & was able to swap a chicken dish for shrimp version without difficulty. The guacamole starter was delicious. Tacos smaller than anticipated but you can... More

Went here with my friend while we were visiting New Orleans and it was a great respite from all the Cajun food. The staff was very friendly and fun, the food was delicious, and if you're a mojito fan, they have some of the best!

First its quite expensive for what you get. A chicken taco is $4.00. that only includes grilled onions. Everything else is an up charge. Lettuce 1.00, tomato 1.00, chesse 1.00. it cost us over 80.00 with tip, for a small guacamole, cucumber chips, 8 plain tacos, and 1 flan. Not a true Mexican restaurant when they don't know what carnitis... More

I know it's weird to go for Mexican food while in NOLA, but this place is great. Food is excellent and the pineapple lime cilantro margaritas are the best!

Kinda tired of Cajun or Creole food - stop in at the "Black Cat" very close to the Convention Center with great Mexican Food and Margarita's.

Two locations in town. The one at the of French quarter is a basic Mexican restaurant. Great tequilas. Large guacamole fresh at the table. Good food but not a fancy a location.

We stopped by after smelling the cooking as we walked to the French market. The food was amazing. We had table side guacamole, tacos and burrito. We savored the house Tequila Tacumba Azul (so smooth) and had the best blackberry mojito ever! Sammy the waiter is the best ask for him.

We went for dinner on a asayurday night. We were sat immediately upon arrival. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive even though we arrived close to closing time. We never felt rushed. He recommended some margaritas, which were one of the best I've ever had. Made with FRESH squeezed lime and orange juice, yum yum!!! We also ordered ceviche... More

Staying in French Quarter

Neighborhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
