It's a long walk from the French Quarter, but worth every step! LOVED the boudin biscuit and shrimp and grits, coffee and juice. Very friendly and attentive waitstaff. Place is cozy, not much seating, but it's clearly a favorite hang-out for tourists and locals. Will definitely return someday!

We walk here from the French quarter. A bit of a walk but well worth it. The place is small but the service is good. The food and the coffee are good and the portions are large. Significantly better than the place we ate in the French quarter the next day which was more expensive.

Waited 45 minutes standing outside on sidewalk. The cement Floor was wet and dirty. The crab omelet was ok but not anything super special . The crab was a mixture of crab and something else and it was laying on top of omelet very pale looking without a condiment to perk it up . The homemade biscuit was heavy and butter... More

We first read about Surreys in a NOLA guidebook. When we got here we realized that we live only 300 meters from it. From the outside it doest look like much, but once you get inside. You get greated by a lovely serviceminded staff and a nice and relaxed atmosphere. We got there when they opened at 8 am, which... More

I love this little sandwich shop out of the hustle and bustle of the quarter. I actually stopped in here while walking from the garden district to Mardi Gras world. The food is really healthy and tasty. The salad dressings are homemade. I had the lime cilantro dressing, but the mango vinegarette was tempting too. Atmosphere is quaint and cozy.

I absolutely love coming here. I have been to Surrey's 4 times in the past 7 months and 3/4 have been to this location. Faster service at this one. Took a friend to the Uptown one and they were taking your name down for the wait as a famous celebrity. Very cute and unique place.

After we came to this little place for breakfast our first day in New Orleans, it became a morning tradition that I looked forward to everyday thereafter. Great, great breakfast with NOLA-inspired specials that are something different (especially for non-locals) and tasty. An excellent mild coffee blend ties everything together wonderfully. Even the toast is delicious. This casual restaurant is... More

Ok guys this little gem is definitely worth a visit if you are straying from the touristy area of Canal and Bourbon. First off, Magazine street is beautiful, I love the houses. Upon, entering the eatery, I was greeted before I even made it all the way in the door, we picked were we wanted to sit and I couldn't... More

I love this little place! I had a fresh pineapple banana juice along with French toast and Migos with Chorizo! Always fresh and delicious! I just wish they get a bigger spot so I can bring plenty of people!!! You will enjoy anything on the menu. Great bang for your bucks!!

Staying in Garden District

Neighborhood Profile
Garden District
Head to the Garden District for the full-on New Orleans experience replete with quaintly clanking streetcars, proudly grandiose antebellum mansions, picture perfect avenues lined with live oaks loaded down with Spanish moss, and a wealth of beautiful churches and many more architectural marvels. Even a brief excursion here makes plain why it’s called the Garden District. So, when you visit be sure to give yourself ample time for admiration at a languidly slow pace befitting such gentile strand of riverside living and to allow you to maximize each opportunity to stop and smell the roses – and whichever other blooms you might come across. While taking it all in, you’d do well to dine at one of the city’s most beloved destinations for regional cuisine. Gourmands from far and wide (and right round the corner) swear the age-old Commander’s Palace is the best restaurant in town – and have been doing so since it opened back in 1880.
