I had trouble finding this restaurant; although it's right across from the Convention Center, the Fulton Street entrance was being used which runs parallel to the Blvd., a small street behind Harrah's. It was quite crowded so I got a seat at the white marble bar. The bartender was friendly and conversational. First I ordered the gumbo which was all... More

Casual restaurant, nothing fancy but solid NOLA atmosphere. We were there mid afternoon on Sunday so place was only half full. Service was very good. My wife had the namaste cocktail she liked and I highly recommend the shrimp Caminada po boy. We would go back.

Get there before 7 p.m and enjoy drinks and appetizers for half price. This restaurant sources its food locally and it's shrimp po-boy won a statewide taste test for overall best po-boy. Try the smoked fried oysters and the bread pudding. Delicious.

Introduced to the Grand Isle for an after conference mingle, I was able to taste a number of appetizers and the calamari was amazing! I loved the jumbo peel and eat shrimps. Everything I tried was delish, from gator to baked oysters! My friends raved about the bread pudding though I did not have room to try desserts. Enjoyed washing... More

Our server was from Venezuela. He was grateful for his job and was passionate about being in the service industry. He told us as much. I had the shrimp & grits. It was absolutely delicious. I scraped the bowl and would have loved another serving. The grits were smooth and creamy. There was sausage and great seasoning in the dish... More

This light and airy restaurant has wonderfully fresh to table menu. The catch of the day was served with seasonal veggies in a scrumptious chili butter. This is a 10+ on the 1-10 scale!

We tried this place since it was located near our hotel. This place is just as good as anyplace you will go to in the French Quarter, without dealing with the crowds. We had, BBQ Shrimp, Calamari, St Louis Cut Ribs(bites). All of which were tasty. I would say the ribs bites were not worth $23 since we only got... More

We went here after the Essence Day Party to grab something to eat. We didn't know what was going on with the straws. They brought them in a dirty cup with lint or something on them. Anywho...the onion rings were awesome! Lightly breaded and the onion had just enough sweetness to them. I wasn't very hungry so I got a... More

The service, food and ambiance is authentic. I had lunch with a friend. We ordered the calamari and fried redfish to split. It was simply delicious. The wait staff was professional and timely. A wonderful experience.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
