the restaurant has an Happy Hour every day from 15h00 to 18h00. You can have big oysters for 75 cents each and some cook one for a little bit more. We tasted the best oysters there. Their gumbo must be tried also.

We were in New Orleans for Mardi Gras and had made reservations at Trenasse for dinner. It was right on the parade route and very convenient to our grandstand seats. It is a lovely, lively restaurant in the hotel Intercontinental. They had Happy Hour going on when we arrived so we were able to order drinks at happy hour prices and good appetizers. Be sure to try the Boudin Bites. They were so good, we came back for more the next day. The Popcorn catfish were good too. Unfortunately, by the time we finished happy hour, we were too full for dinner. We came back the next night late for a sandwich and got the Cuban. It was OK but not outstanding. We wished that we had gotten the fish that the table next to us had ordered. It was beautifully presented and I could not help but notice the lady closing her eyes in delight as she ate it. Next time, I will have what she was having.

Decided to eat in and a great choice it was. Each of the four of us ordered a different dish. Me, I ordered the Stinky Stew which was absolutely an excellent choice, loaded with oysters, shrimp, mussels and a crab leg cluster. Enough for two but I managed to devour it alone. Spare Ribs, red fish and the seafood sampler we're all thoroughly enjoyed by the others in my party. Highly recommend! By the way, the service was impeccable.

Overall, disappointing.
Although OpenTable reservations were hard to get, the restaurant was not crowded at all. Decor is nice. Service was reasonably prompt, but it was clear that the staff needs more training to be of the quality and price range to which Trenasse is aspiring.
Oysters were the high point of the meal. The blackened redfish was ok. The wine list should have been better.

We had dinner here Christmas Day 2019 and the food was pretty good but the service was horrible! Granted, we didn't have reservations so we had to sit at the bar but we were constantly ignored by the bartenders to the point that I finally said something to one of them. It only got marginally better. Now for the food: We had the boudin bites...I loved them, my husband was looking for more of the sausage variety of boudin so he didn't care much for them. My husband got the foul gumbo and shrimp and grits. The gumbo was okay but lacked something, can't really put my finger on it. The shrimp and grits were good but a very small portion and had some sort of weird fried shrimp on top that was more like a hushpuppy or something. Didn't much care for that part. I had the 12 oz ribeye, potato au gratin and sauteed spinach. Ribeye was cooked well, had nice flavor and the au gratin was the best I've had. Sauteed spinach, well, it's sauteed spinach so not too much to get excited about. My husband went back to our room and I ordered the creme brulee to-go. Waited about 10 minutes for the kitchen to come out and say they were out of it. Shouldn't that be something that all the servers know about instead of making the customer wait 10 minutes for nothing? Hopefully the service at the tables was better but the dark haired bartender needs an attitude adjustment.

We stopped in and were seated, when we were told the oyster shuckers were on break we needed to come back. When we came back the manager was totally rude, refused to seat us telling us that they had no tables while we could see tables empty. When one of us checked in later he was even ruder, while some of the same tables sat empty. Over half an hour later we find out the manager is not allowing take out or delivery. Still the same tables sat empty. A phone call to the GM was made and while he was nice and offered dinner another time, we are still walking away from this restaurant hunger and just pissed. The Manager even told us we would not be served there. Stay far away from the restaurant maybe then the manager will appreciate customers.

Came here from out of town for lunch after reading other reviews. Very pretty and clean restaurant. I ordered lunch special $13 for 1/2 Muffaleta Po boy and side salad....excellent. My son ordered the same sandwich with the fowl soup - he liked it but said too much oil on his sandwich, my other son ordered a cheeseburger medium rare w fries. The burger was done, but he was hungry and ate it. My husband also had a burger and it was cooked to medium....he ordered medium. Slow service but we were not in any rush so it was fine. Our waitress was Caroline. Not super friendly or attentive...but was not rude. Apparently there were food specials that she did not tell us about because we heard a waiter at another table describe some specials.
We would come again but hope to have better service.

Interesting experience – our visit started in confusion as we only had ordered drinks and appetizers, when suddenly no one returned and no items were delivered for awhile. Our server had been fired halfway into the shift, and a new server appeared eventually, apologized for the situation, and went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect after that. Items that were severely delayed due to the mix-up were removed from the bill. Plus, having 3 of our 6 guests celebrating a birthday, they brought candles out on top of our desserts, which was a nice touch!
My dinner, the trio called "Taste of Trenasse" (Louisiana Crawfish Pie, Pan Fried Redfish Meunière, Shrimp & Grits) was spectacular! I could eat that every week and it never get old, very very good, especially the crawfish pie.

We liked Trenasse...liked, not loved. I can't stop thinking about that amazing cauliflower steak. I think it was the best dish I had in NOLA during my 5 days! But other food was good, not amazing. For the price I expected more. The service was mediocre (not attentive and forgot 4 different things). The other food was 7/10. And we had espresso martinis and found out when we got the bill they were $25 each!! UNREAL!!

There's a reason reservations are available on a Friday night pretty much any time you want them. This is not a destination. It's an amateurishly run hotel restaurant.
This was a date night. We were going to share a gluten free salad and then have two entrees. The salad arrived with a topping of deep fried stuff. (Hint: fryer oil is full of gluten from all the other stuff that gets deep fried.) We had to send it back.
They brought out the correct salad, and before we were finished, our entrees showed up. What's the rush, guys? We sent them back until we finished our salad course. (The tables aren't big enough for everything on them at once.)
The food was tasty and nicely presented--I'll give them credit for that. But a night in a restaurant is supposed to be about the entire experience. This was amateur hour.

This restaurant location is so convenient for entertaining clients and nice atmosphere for family dining also. if staying at a hotel downtown, it’s convenient. The food is wonderful and the staff is super efficient and friendly. They even recognize you when you are a repeat guest! The salads are large portions and the burgers are a no brainer if you like a large burger prepared just so.

We had reservations, so can't comment on wait times but the food was delicious. Pepper Jack cheese grits, Boudin hash, crab omelette, bottomless mimosas... definitely found what I was looking for! I would've liked to hear the jazz band more than the chatter of people, but it was a busy weekend so understandable. Also witnessed a ridiculous customer directly next to us, and the waiter was a true gem and handled it like a pro!!!

Arrived and a queue at reception. My table was not ready. When it came to taking my order NONE of the fish on the menu was available and my first choice of wines unavailable. Service was good but when it came to pay there were two different prices, one for credit card and one for cash. I never encountered this before. It sends out the message that you are not welcome if you pay by credit card. This type of differential charging is hardly acceptable in this day and age when cards are the norm. I also felt I was being hurried from the table once I had finished eating even though I had not finished my wine.

We had reservations at this restaurant and were seated promptly. I ordered the mani and my guest, the rib eye. The mahi was quite salty, the mixed sautéed veges were over cooked, slightly mushy and the potatoes were well, just potatoes. My guest’s rib eye was a bit tough, but cooked as ordered, medium rare. The Lambrusco failed to be the sparkling wine as described on the menu. Very loud. Not worth the money

We went there late at 9 pm and it was still quite busy. We ordered two appetizers, the crawfish pie and the cauliflower steak and they were both very yummy. I especially loved the cauliflower. We shared the stinky’s stew and it was superb. We read about the credit card up charge and it was 4 %, not 2.5% written by another post. Not too happy but I was forewarned. Overall, great meal.
