This restaurant offers unbelievable appetizers and entrees that are beyond words to describe. We visit this restaurant every time we go to New Orleans and have never had a bad dish. The staff are always very pleasant and responsive.

Best burger I have had in a long time. If you go here order the House Burger. You won't be sorry. The staff here is great. The maitre d Iesha was awesome. We didn't know if it was ok to keep our car parked down the street. She assured us it would be fine then went the extra mile and... More

The Chartres House is located on a busy corner of the French Quarter with an inviting walk in dining area. The wait staff is engaging and establishes a quick relationship with you and makes you feel like you are important. The menu contains many New Orleans treats. The burgers are huge and filling. The seafood offerings looked great. If you... More

Perfect if you just got off a tour bus. Nothing special. Clean. The service was adequate. The food was overpriced and uninspired. The gumbo was bland. There are much better choices all around.

The main restaurant dining area, where the bar is, was full, so we were seated in their back room. We were really hungry, so we overlooked the mildly sad atmosphere. The crab and corn bisque was delicious, but it was a scant 4 ounces, filling up just a little above the halfway mark on the cup. The oyster po boy... More

My girlfriend and I wandered in late afternoon. It was a bit warm out and we were thirsty abs a bit hungry. We were seated promptly and given ice water. Their red beans and rice wad very good. Their mixed drinks are amazing,as well! Nice place to unwind in the French Quarter!

We visited Chartres House for lunch on NYE. I had the shrimp po'boy and my Husband had the blackened chicken sandwich. The food was delicious, the restaurant (and restrooms) were very clean. The drinks were awesome and the service was the best we had in New Orleans. Definitely stop here if you're in the area!

Great variety of beers on tap if you like to do a little sampling. I had the friend green tomatoes with an amazing dipping sauce and tried 3-4 local beers while catching a game at the bar.

Staying in French Quarter

Neighborhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
