Went to Luke for the first time on a Friday night with a group of 6 for a bachelorette party. We shared fried oysters and the brussel sprouts as appetizers and both were impressive. Cocktails were delicious and strong. I had the drum fish as an entree which was good just didn't stand out but others at the table were... More

Great brunch! Crawfish beignets were really flavorful with a perfectly blended mimosa to wash them down. Service and atmosphere was exceptional and elegant. Omelette was perfect.

The food was delicious and the service was great! I appreciated the ability to enjoy 5 star food and service in a place that is still casual enough that the kids could enjoy as well. It was a little noisy at lunchtime but that was fine for us. While everything was fantastic, I highly recommend the crawfish bisque.

Friends had met John Besh at the South Beach Food and Wine Festival so we had traveled to New Orleans for a "John Besh Restaurant Tour" Two years ago. What a great weekend, but my wife and I had to leave early and didn't make it to Lüke. I got to make up for that yesterday. Started with a French... More

Excellent!!! This place is great. It is our first restaurant to visit in NOLA and I would come back! Melanie was our waitress and she was awesome. We ordered totally on her recommendations. We were not let down.

Dinner at Luke was outstanding. The rabbit and chicken liver pate was fabulous. Then the grilled amberjack. The fish was perfectly done but almost overshadowed by the fennel camponata and the fried eggplant. To finish, the strawberry tartlet with a delightful buttermilk sorbet and Irish coffee served in a coffee cup not a mug. Great, friendly New Orleans service.

Stopped at Luke’s as we saw it when walking to Layfette Square. What a great find off the beaten path of the French quarter on St. Charles. We were a party of four and were turned off a bit when seated in their back room overlooking the kitchen, as the front of the restaurant clearly had tables open. However, this... More

Description
Luke New Orleans is Besh's homage to the grand old Franco-German brasseries that once reigned in New Orleans. Luke offers an extensive French, German, and Belgian beer selection, including three exclusive house brews [custom-made in Louisiana]. The cuisine is unaffectedly Old World, using slow and traditional cooking techniques. The wine list features reds and whites from the Loire, Alsace, and Savoie regions, as well as Badischerwiens of Germany. Since opening in 2007, Luke has been hailed by Conde Nast Traveler, Travel + Leisure, and The Times-Picayune Lagniappe, which awarded Luke an impressive three bean-ranking for its "disarmingly home-spun culinary touches and broad-shouldered dishes that satisfy something more than just an appetit."

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
