Absolutely opt for outside dining if available because the courtyard is very beautiful, arguably the prettiest al fresco dining in New Orleans. We arrived earlier than our reservation so had a chance to have a drink inside at the bar; bartender and wait staff all were very personable and efficient, our drinks were well made, and the indoor setting was... My husband and I ate here recently for our anniversary; unfortunately had not made reservations well in advance as we should have during a busy holiday period. He loved his Cochon Lait Sandwich and said it was the best meal he got in New Orleans. We were told we'd have an hour wait, which turned out to be more a... More

This restaurant has a cute and cozy decor. It is beautifully decorated. Try to have dinner outside by the courtyard if weather permits. I recommend the Salmon with Horseradish dressing accompanied with the fingerling potatoes. The chocolate lava cake is to die for and gives your meal the final touch. The fig bread was highly recommend to us but we... More

Amelie has an excellent menu which will cater for just about all tastes. The dinner menu has a Cochon Lait Sandwich (pulled pork) that is best I've tasted and I've had a few! Other stand outs were the Carred Brussels, Satsuma Pepper Glazed Shrimp, and the Lamb Meatloaf to mention a few. Service is great and if not raining the... More

We originally were going to sit in the courtyard but the evening was cooler than expected so we sat indoors. It seems they converted an old house into a restaurant, it was very cute inside. Our server was very friendly and helpful in her suggestions. I had the duck breast that was cooked to perfection and tasted wonderful. My BF... More

Elegant outside dining area, with heaters in cool weather, and cozy inside dining. The food is great, the service is excellent, and it's a great value. They even have two varieties of hard cider (domestic and English). Michael, our server, is knowledgeable, gracious, and attentive. Anything on the menu will be great, and the doberge cake dessert is absolutely superb.

First of all, I really like this restaurant and the food was okay...The service was great. When we walked in most of the tables were taken and there was one open and I asked if we could sit there and they said no it was reserved for the owner however the whole time I was there, it was open. Walked by the place and made a reservation for the next night. The weather was perfect - balmy and warm, the garden was tranquil - lush vegetation and romantic lighting and the food delicious. After running around like crazy tourists, it was so nice to get a respite from the Bourbon St crowds and city noise.

Please note that the courtyard is seated on a first come, first serve basis. A reservation does not guarantee seating in the courtyard but we will have a table available inside our beautiful, historic carriage house. We normally allow reservation space for only 50% of the dining room to accommodate walk-ins. Additionally, in order to accommodate all of our guests who are waiting to be seated, we are only able to seat your party once everyone has arrived. Nestled in the historic 150-year-old Princess of Monaco Courtyard and Carriage House on Royal Street in the French Quarter, Cafe Amelie is a rare combination of superb Louisiana fare served in a lush, enchanting New Orleans courtyard setting. Cafe Amelie has a full bar offering an array of signature cocktail creations. Cafe Amelie and the accompanying Princess of Monaco Courtyard are also available for private parties, weddings and receptions.

Staying in French Quarter

Neighborhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
