It was a short line to get in. The restaurant was lively and loud. Unfortunately our service was slow. We sat for about 10 minutes before anyone came over and then our drinks sat on the bar for 10 minutes. However, the oysters were fresh and creamy, I would go back just to get them again. If you don't like... More

We went here twice during our stay. First for breakfast which was delicious. The banana fosters french toast was rich, but a great way to start off a day in New Orleans. My husband had the Dauphine omelet which was excellent as well. Our waiter was attentive and helpful in making suggestions about places to go and directions. We went... More

Great spot for oysters and drink right on Bourbon Street. Breakfast wasn't as memorable and a bit pricey.

Great value on happy hour cocktails. The charcoal oysters were the best we had in New Orleans. Located in the heart of the French Quarter.

This is one of our regular must-go-to each time we're in New Orleans, and it never fails to disappoint. My personal favorites are their chargrilled oysters, and now they have an oyster happy hour. Yes! Their hot roast beef po' boy is delicious and tender. Of course, no meal there is complete without their outstanding bread pudding with whiskey sauce.

I searched for best oysters in New Orleans and talked to some locals and ended up her. Happy hour dollar oysters, great gumbo and good drinks all swiftly served by Kitty. Very happy with everything and will come here without any reservations if Acme is crowded.

Stopped in for a quick lunch, took a seat at the bar. Miss Kitty took good care of me. Tried the Gumbo, very tasty, one of the best cups I have had. Than tried the Char Broil Shrimp, perfectly cooked and yummy. Added a little hot sauce to spice it up. Came with French Bread to mop up the topping.... More

We wanted a fun, open and friendly place with quality food and service. We found this at the Desire Oyster Bar. Great menu of food and drinks. We all shared their Fruits De Mer Platter (12 Raw Oysters, 1/2 lb. Peel & Eat Shrimp, Crab Louie), and several salads. All was really good. Also recommend their French 75 cocktail (Bombay... More

Staying in French Quarter

Neighborhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
