My brother and I were staying at the hotel across the street. After the noise and chaos of Frenchmen & Bourbon street, we decided to stop in for a pint of Guinness. Well..... Robert being the persuasive bartender that he is, talked us into a couple more beverages! We ended up here 3/4 nights we stayed in NOLA!! Beware of... More

This bar was dead opposite our hotel What a find. Locals pub friendly staff & customers Good measure drinks at less than half price of Beale Street. Had nightcaps on both nights we were here and went to bed much later than we intended.

We were told that this is a great local bar and had to go. They have cold Guinness and 2 pool tables and 2 dart boards. Not much else, finished the beer and left. Smelled a little funky.

Fahy's is the place to start your afternoon, follow up an early dinner or end the night. When we stay in New Orleans, Fahy's is like our corner bar. Always friendly, always regular and down to earth.

A very local spot to have a nightcap. They pour great drinks and prices are generally half of what you will find 2 blocks over on Bourbon.

Nice people, warm atmosphere, very affordable drinks. Visit here to get a truer taste of the real (not bourbon street) quarter area of New Orleans. Smaller with an intimate setting (but it does have pool tables). Just blocks from Bourbon Street - not a bad walk either.

Staying in French Quarter

Neighborhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
