Old school bar and restaurant with a very entertaining "in your face" wait staff. Loud and upbeat with good food. I highly recommend the jambalaya and fried chicken. Good drinks and decent prices. A must stop while in the French Quarter.

Solid locals to drink with midday on a Friday, and more than a little excellent fried chicken. Sassy waitresses and cold Abita Light made this a solid stop!

We arrived around 2:15 and had no trouble getting a seat. Served a very cold beer, Cajun fried chicken and sausage/rabbit jambalya. Love the quaint atmosphere with the kitchen located off the back patio area.

Went here for dinner on a recommendation from a local. It was a little busy, but we did not wait long. I had the blackened redfish, which was very good. Cooked perfectly and not too spicy. My friend had the redfish meuniere, and she also...More

Visited Coop's on a recommendation from a guide and tried the combo plate, offering up some Jambalaya, Gumbo, Rice and Beans, Shrimp Creole and fried chicken - whilst all of the flavours may not have quite belonged on the same plate, each was delicious in...More

Being from the south, I have had some really good fired chicken, probably more than I should, but Coop's chicken was by far the best I've had. The rest of the food I tried was ok, normal creole food.

Best authentic cajun/creole restaurant of our trip! The waitress told us from the get go that this is not healthy fare.. the chicken Tchaloupas and BBQ shrimp were out of this world! Would go back in a heartbeat!

If you are looking for rude shouty staff this is the place visit! Our party of 6 had the temerity to cross the threshold and not stop at a non existent sign to wait to be seated in an empty dive.

Be prepared to wait in line, even on aweeknight. Small establishment but food was worth the wait. No one under 21 admitted, so not kid friendly. Good gumbo, sampler plate was a good introduction to Cajun/Creole menu.

French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living
lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty
Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port
of call for folks in search of a good time and a great
story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs
across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied
around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively
well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the

Sorry. Since I don't smoke, I can't help. But this is an extremely casual place...you'll be in and out in an hour and no table is very far from the front door, if you need to light up.
