I have been 10 times over the last 5 years and this was my first mediocre experience. I crave their rabbit and duck jambalaya and it was sub par this year. The gumbo was cold and lacked flavor. I am hoping for a much better experience next time because it has been a favorite for so long.

We stopped here late one evening for food having read about it as a good spot. We queued for a bit but not too long and enjoyed our food- really good fried chicken and tasty rabbit, sausage and seafood jambalaya. Lovely local raspberry beer, friendly service. Bustley place.

Some people queue here for over an hour! This place was one of the biggest anticlimaxes of the trip. ONLY GO if you love seafood and rabbit! These are incorporated into almost every dish, I ended up eating cheesy fries. (Not the restaurants fault I don't eat seafood or rabbit). However, stood inside the door to look at what else... More

Most nights you will see a queue outside of people waiting for a table. On the night we were passing no queue so we went in (it has also been recommended to us). Charming waitress sat us down took drinks order and we ordered. 45 minutes later lots of apologies but no food. Then admission that something had gone wrong... More

The fried chicken is good. The rabbit and sausage jambalaya -- which came with the fried chicken -- is better. Much better. Should have ordered a bowl of it.

We ordered the combo plate. Other than the small piece of fried chicken on top the food was luke warm. Place only accepts cash.

People start lining up outside shortly after 6 at this authentic Cajun eatery, famed for its jambalaya. Definitely a no-frills place, we were placed at a long table, sharing with two other groups. The atmosphere is great, the food spicy-delicious, and the prices very low. The food does take quite a while to be delivered, but the drinks arrive quickly... More

We had to wait about an hour for a table, but it was well worth it. Once we were inside, the staff were fantasticly firenly and helpful. The food was absolutely delicious and we felt they had all the classic New Orleans dishes we wanted to see, but were among the best in the city. The prices were also very... More

Coops is renowned restaurant with the locals. It is basically a bar serving local fare. We had red beans and rice (simple, but very good), and the rabbit & sausage jumbalaya. Definitely a good lunch restaurant.

Staying in French Quarter

Neighborhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
