Red snapper in coconut with crawfish etouffee was awesome! Staff was outstanding! Great restaurant a short distance away from the tourism.

Was highly recommended by a friend for great food. Was a big disappointment. I am not a picky eater. But it was the worst meal I have ever had in New Orleans. I had the Royal Red shrimp. Very little shrimp, but a lot of...tails over some linguine noodles some sauce, & a big shrimp head in the middle. A small portion of over priced slop. There was four of us, and nobody enjoyed their meal. Reading the reviews I wonder if I went there on the wrong night. I wished I would’ve took a picture.More
The service is excellent at this little restaurant on Magazine. Off street parking is close by and easy. This visit we were there for coolinary and it was delicious. Order the chicken and waffles! Bloody Marys and bottomless Mimosas were also good.
The oysters weren’t well prepared and slightly disappointing, which was a shame because everything else was great. The crab beignets were delicious and the jambalaya was worth the trip there. Service was attentive without being too much.
I had eaten there once before and it was nice, but we went on Mothers day, and I was the last one to get my food. My children and my husband received their food 15 minutes or more before my food arrived. The server kept...coming by asking how the food was and I hadn't even received mine yet. We ordered a drink, and it didn't arrive with the appetizers or the salad or even with the meal. It came after the meal arrived. The restaurant wasn't busy at all. Automatic gratuities for a party of five. Happy mother's day to me!More
Stopped here for lunch. The server was very helpful and we had two very good lunches. I had the mussels and pomme frites. It reminded me of Paris. Reasonable prices. I would go back
I brought my family here for a NYE dinner. They got us in immediately without a reservation. While the service wasn't the fastest I've ever had (it was NYE after all) it was still very attentive and above par. The food that we got was...excellent! I had the short ribs and it was out of this world. I want to come back and order it again tomorrow! I will definitely come back!!!More
Dinner on a Sunday night, no reservation. Friendly service, delicious food, great ambience. Had the charbroiled oysters, Caesar salad & banana rum cake. Great mocktail too! Everyone at the table enjoyed their food
Went here for Coolinary week-$45 fixed price menu. The food was disappointing to say the least. Gumbo was ok, shrimp and grits nothing to write home about and pretty bad crème brûlée (too sweet, not brûlée’d). The food and wine were certainly not worth the...price.More
Looks like a family business, flexible enough to accommodate you if you get there without a reservation, which you will certainly need on a busy weekend. Great food, fair prices and friendly service. An amazing combination to make any dinner a special one.
I took my family here when the wait at Boil seafood was 2 hours. We were able to get an immediate table here and checked the reviews, which were good. We have been here 1 hour 15 min— no food. Bad service. Bad mixed drinks…...We should have waited the 2 hours. Did I mention they had 8 employees to only 12 customers in the building. If I were the owner, I would be upset.More
Basin is dark-ish, industrial and beautiful. (Edison bulbs in industrial fittings, painted brick wall, exposed duct work...) Although the brunch entrees looked appealing, I opted for two appetizers - roasted brussel sprouts and charbroiled oysters with parmesan and pecorino butter. The brussel sprouts were delicious,...but the oysters were spectacular. Having never eaten oysters previously, I can't compare them to others, but let's just say, "I'm a convert." Who knew the slimy little buggers eaten raw (which I can't bring myself to touch) could be so delicious? I rounded out my meal with sweet tea.More
The best fish tacos and crawfish beignets I’ve ever had, great place and awesome service! Would definitely come again 👍
We ate here yesterday. All of us loved the food we ordered. Our server was friendly and attentive. The only slight negative was that the bathroom wasn't very clean. Other than that, A+!
This was my first time to Basin Seafood & Spirits but not my last. This place is outstanding. They don’t have a bartender. They have a Mixologist who made one of the best Old Fashions (called Old Magazine) that I have ever had. The Charbroiled...Oysters were to die for. My single soft shell crab was a full meal, delicious, and different than any other I have had. Do not pass on the Rum Cake Alamode dessert.More
