Thanks to Amtrak, we rolled into New Orleans about eight hours later than expected -- too late to keep the dinner plans we'd made. Therefore, late at night, with fine dining out of the question, we were on the prowl for damn-near anything. With apologies to restaurants who probably do a fine job at pizzas and such, that's not what... More

Loved this hole-in-the-wall place with picnic tables and a friendly staff. I had the jambalaya and it was AMAZING! The cheddar biscuit was so yummy too.

Tried several restaurants in the area, and this one is the least expensive. Guess you get what you pay for. The hamburger is average at best. No real beef taste. The bun is quite good, and so are the lettuce, tomato, and onion. My side was turnip greens...ghastly turnip greens. They tasted as if they were cooked with no spice... More

Stopped here for lunch on my walk from the Convention Center to the WWII Museum. This is a no frills place with picnic tables as the only seating option. You order at the bar, take a pager, and pick up your food at another window. I ordered a burger and it was juicy and cooked to perfection! Other members of... More

Walked there after event at Hampton Inn. Expert mixologist, casual atmosphere, good bar food, plenty of televisions to watch sports, indoor and outdoor seating, very relaxing and fun

Think Chipotle style food service and a good bar. In a pool hall with picnic tables. But I enjoyed the brisket and pulled chicken. The bartender was super cool. I saw a couple of folks walk in, turn up their nose, and walk out. Sorry. It's just a come as you are, we take 'em all kind of place. I... More

A different experience in the setup, more rustic with picnic style tables. More like a ranch styled bar. Food was okay. I liked the Pulled pork but I think the plates could be nicer.

Visited May 6, 2016 for dinner. As a certified KCBS BBQ judge, I was looking forward to some good BBQ. Place was clean, but not fancy as seating is on wooden picnic tables. OK, I like rustic. Place could have held about 120 but only 10 people there; not a good sign as across the street at Chouchon the line... More

I pick restaurants for the food, not how pretty they are. This one lives up to it's name, picnic tables, TV, no wait staff but I would say that's part of the charm. After that the food was very good. My only issue was that we ate here on the last night of our conference or I would have gone... More

Staying in Arts District / Warehouse District

Neighborhood Profile
Arts District / Warehouse District
Once a thriving industrial zone, today this district is home to a buzzing arts scene with an amazing assortment of galleries, boutiques, and studios having moved in and set up shop throughout the disused warehouses for which the area is so well known. Much of the art you'll come across here is local in scope, ownership and inspiration. However, among the many old brick warehouses are modern structures of steel and glass housing large-scale cultural institutions of national prominence such as the National World War II Museum, the Contemporary Arts Center, and the Ogden Museum of Southern Art. Just as eye catching as what’s on view inside the galleries and museums is the chance to see your ship come in at the Julia Street Cruise Terminal, which serves as a wistful reminder of the city’s historic maritime prominence.
