2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed yesterday NEW via mobile

Had lunch with husband and daughter. Ordered bbq shrimp appetizer which had a STRONG vinagery taste. Neither my husband nor myself enjoyed. I ordered the hamburger steak which was mushy and hard to eat although I tried to eat the burned edges in hopes of some kind of meal. Husband had shrimp platter which he described as alright not great.... More

Fist off our server was amazing! The onion rings were crisp and delicious! We ordered the muffuletta and crab dish. The muffuletta was good just a really large serving size. The crab and cheese dish was not very good. Crab tasted very "fishy". We had the tiger tail and sazerac (?) which were both great! We finished with a warm... More

My husband had the shrimp platter and I had the seafood pasta. I loved the sauce on the seafood pasta that I asked for a spoon to not miss one drop. The waitress not only brought a spoon but also a small loaf of bread which I used to wipe the entire bowl clean. It was so very, very good.... More

They have a wide variety of good Cajun food. The catfish, slaw, barbecue shrimp, chicken wings, are all good. The mudbugs aren't in season, but we enjoyed what we got. Casey did well taking care of us. Prices, considering they are across from the convention center, are reasonable. The service is fast and efficient. We even enjoyed the band entertainment.

Food was spectacular but our waitress was none too enthused about our group of 11. I had crab stuffed shrimp and it was awesome! They had a zydeco band playing so the atmosphere was so New Orleans!

Our hotel recommended this restaurant. It is close to the Convention Center. Do not be dissuaded by the outward appearance. It had great food. Inside was clean, but with a back country Louisiana ambiance. Seating and service were very prompt. Our waitress, April was very knowledgeable about the menu and made great recommendations. I will say that I only went... More

The food was excellent but a little pricy. The restaurant has that old Cajun charm. The live Zydego band is a great touch as well as the locals dancing. The service was excellent.

I really liked the place when we walked in and being able to try alligator bites grilled!! Which by the way were fantastic; I would describe as a taste cross between veal and chicken. We just went for appetizers at the bar. The bartender was unfortunately not personable nor attentive. He would rather read his book than pay attention to... More

Mulate's is mainly a restaurant, BUT you don't have to order food! There are several tables to the right of the band where you can sit and listen to the great music. You DO NOT have to order anything at all. The DOWNSIDE if you want to order alcohol, you must walk about 100 feet and order at the bar.... More

Had a fantastic night at Mulates. Food and live music was great but it was the service from Julie that made the night. She was so welcoming and full of knowledge in regards to the menu. Thanks for a great night.

Thank Michael H

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
