The shrimp trio was delicious, especially the shrimp au gratin. Make sure to get the bread pudding and do a little two step on the dance floor.

If you want the Cajun experience, this is it! The music was great, the older couples who actually know how to do the two step are great to watch. Even a non-dancer can pick up and dance. You can let your kids roam from the table and feel comfortable. The food was ok. My kid loved the fried chicken wings.... More

This was a typical "tourist" place for cajun food. I have to say the live music was fun and the staff was attentive and friendly. The food was just ok and EVERYTHING was fried. If you love fried food and all you want to taste is the "fried" bit, then this place is perfect. The house salad was decent and... More

Went on recommendations from other people at business convention for dinner. I tried the sampler platter and fried gator bites. Was very impressed with the gator. Previously having tried it at other places was not expecting much. This was great! My meal was huge! Fried oysters were very good and fresh. Shrimp and fish likewise great. Live band playing was... My cousin and I decided to give this place a try for lunch this weekend. We had an appetizer platter with house salads, lemonade and beer. The platter was pretty good with gator, fried tilapia, stuffed mushrooms, crawfish bites. Everything was tasty with their house remolade and tartar, cocktail sauces. The house salad was delicious and the drinks were large.... More

We went to eat at this restaurant one night in NOLA and the atmosphere is great! Service is wonderful and very attentive! The food was delicious and plentiful! The band was nice and the people dancing made it all much better and lots of fun! Not a fancy place but should be on your list to try out!

We live in New Orleans and whenever my father-in-law visits from Seattle he is eager to go to Mulate's for dinner. It's fairly touristy, given the location to the casino and cruise ships. But, each time we go we have an excellent meal with live music.

This was close to our hotel so we decided to give it a try. This place is really big with lots of seats. The atmosphere was fun and the place looked really cool too. This was my first time trying fried gator and I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was.

I was so excited to get to eat Cajun food and listen to live music. Food was good. Go later in the evening after 8 for the music and dancing

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
