Me and a couple of friends dropped by this establishment on the advice of an Airport Shuttle driver. I thoroughly enjoyed the grilled chicken breast entree, topped with sautéed mushrooms and green peppers, which came with a double scoop of jambalaya and choice of a side; I chose cole slaw. Not only was the meal delicious but the server provided... More

We chose Mulate's based on TripAdvisor recommendation and was not disappointed. The food was outstanding with generous portions and reasonably priced. A zydeco band started at 7:00 PM which added to the ambiance. I would definitely recommend Mulate's! One note, Mulate's does take reservations and I recommend calling because once the band begins playing the restaurant gets very busy.

Had a bowl of gumbo and blackened catfish topped with crawfish etouffe. Catfish Mulate's. The gumbo is thin and rich, and full of shrimp, sausage and chicken. Delicious. Their Cole slaw is beyond superb. We asked how to make it and the waiter brought a hand-written list of ingredients. The grilled alligator appetizer was incredible

Stayed at the Residence Inn in the Garden/Arts District so was looking for restaurants within walking distance and Mulate's was one of them. Great choice, great options for the traditional New Orleans creole/cajun style foods. I had the blackened red fish with the a creamy crawfish sauce....very delicious and not too spicy. Stopped in between 6-7 pm on a Friday... More

The food was authentic to New Orleans, however, my husband's was delivered cold, and my friend never got her gravy - a key part of her dish. They did comp her dinner, but it is always awkward when all but one are eating, and the one is waiting. Also kind of loud. Also relatively expensive considering that we had to... More

My son and I came down here for a day/evening trip, and so we stopped for a local restaurant that was recommended from someone at the aquarium. We walked over for dinner, and got seated right away. Our waitress did not seem interested or enthusiastic at all. We got sat along the wall in a tiny 2-top table, which is... More

We went to this place in May 2016. We were looking for a place to eat and happened to pass by just as it was opening for the evening. What luck! After we entered, we saw a very long line of people waiting to get in. The food was good (we tried Cajun and Creole), but the band was excellent!... More

Came across this place whilst looking for an eaterie for the evening. The sheriff was in there having a spot to eat so saw this as a good sign. It was busy so we sat at the bar, our server was polite and pleasant and we decided to try the local fare of gumbo and some jambalaya. Our one mistake... More

Went with the family and enjoyed. Looks like more like a canteen , very casual, full of families and nice staff. For me food was good, we had fish, cajun calamari and shrimps... all good , specially redfish . Though I consider is a bit overrated and pricy for the place , we enjoyed food and music. If could be... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
