If you are looking for authentic Cajun food this is the place. Live Cajun music with traditional Crawfish, Gumbo, Fish Platter, and Red Beans and Rice, and great deserts! This is definitely DO NOT MISS restaurant!!

Met a business contact for lunch. Mulate's is across the street for the convention centre. Ate there in years past, but today, although the service was good, the food was not. I had the Jambalaya and my buddy had the muffuletta sandwich. Jambalaya barely had the creole flavour, and was so dry, I'm thinking was left over form days gone... More

What a treat. Found this completely by accident. We walked to the location after registering for the NCPA 2016 convention. Saw people waiting outside and thought..... they must know something. And boy did they!!!! Great food. I got the Seafood Sampler and wife got the Seafood Gumbo. We were both thrilled. Would do again. Wish we lived next door.

You can't go to NOLA without having Cajun food. Mutate not only has that but it has a live Cajun band to go along with your meal. Not expensive at all with a very lively atmosphere. Worth a visit.

Enjoyed a delicious meal following a Saints game on a Sunday afternoon. Great seafood! Big portions... be prepared and be hungry!

My family loves this place! We eat here each time we visit New Orleans, which is usually once or twice a year. The Cajun food is excellent!! I always have the jambalaya. Oh, and try the meat pies as an appetizer or as a meal. They are yummy!! The best part about this restaurant is they have live Cajun music... More

The food was pretty good, albeit overpriced. I got the crawfish etoufee in a bowl. It was a large bowl but $22 for it! We enjoyed the music and dance floor. Husband and I danced a bit and I danced with each child (11 year old and 8 year old). It was a great time!

Stopped in for lunch when friends before leaving for the airport. Saw the good reviews on TA and gave it a shot. Food was really good, I had the Cajun catfish with a crawfish sauce, twice baked potato, jambalaya, and cole slaw , while my friends took down the shrimp po-boy. Catfish was great and my buddy's raved about their... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
