I was in New Orleans 20 years ago, and had a wonderful meal at Mr. B's. I pledged to return there if I ever came back to NOLA. Well, we did, and it was just as good, if not better than my previous visit. Without a doubt - the very best gumbo I have ever had. The steaks and seafood... More

Visited NO for the first time in about 10 years. In the past, I always loved Mr B's and jumped at a chance to try it again. It hasn't changed much and that is a good thing. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Our cocktails were excellent, expertly prepared. Dinner was great. I had the beef, wife had the fish.... More

it was our last night in New Orleans and we decided we would go to ACME Oyster House - however they were closed for a special event, so we quickly had to find an alternate for 5 people. Just 200 feet away was Mr. B's Bistro. As it turned out its was the BEST meal of the trip. The wait... More

Hadn't been there for a while and may have to go back more regularly. An eggplant soup special was out of this world--who knew?! Pork belly appetizer was very good. The Osso Buco, tho, was magnificent, probably best I ever had. Meat was really fresh and fell off the bone. And the sauce was incredible, complex in its seasonings, perfectly... More

The flavor in every dish we ordered was outstanding. From appetizer to entree there was a distinctive New Orleans flair that won us over at first bite! Truly outstanding! We ate at several other notable restaurants but would go back to Mr. B's, hands down over all the rest. The service was excellent too. The only con was the noise... More

Our first meal in New Orleans and standard for all others. We arrived at 5:30 PM on Friday with no reservation and seated immediately. By 6:00 PM the place started to fill and at 6:30 PM there were people waiting. If you are not going to arrie early I recommend a reservation. The wait staff could not have been better.... More

The food was amazing! I'm vegetarian and was pleasantly surprised that I had a few options on the menu for me. Really enjoyed my meal and service was fantastic!

sadly I found the food average and the service just okay. It's a classic must do when visiting New Orleans but I've definitely had better food all over the French Quarter. Maybe it was just that particular night but I left disappointed after hearing so many good things.

This is just one of the several Brennan family eateries in town, but it was right across from our hotel and convenient for lunch one day. Service was excellent, as was the food.

Staying in French Quarter

Neighborhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
