I had read all the reviews and had really high hopes that we would have a good experience. We did not. First of all someone had burnt some bread and the whole place was filled with blue smoke, we came out stinking of smoke! The staff were surly. The gumbo was ok, not worth the hype in my opinion. The... More

I've been coming here off and on for almost twenty years and a recent visit proved Liuzza's is still churning out delicious fare. My unabashed favorite dish remains the fried oysters which taste so fresh they could've been harvested that morning. Prior to Katrina, they were served with a wonderfully garlicky sauce similar to that accompanying escargot, but if you... More

I had the BBQ Shrimp po-boy and it was everything I read about and more. The food was prepared after i ordered it and was piping hot with a HUGE mound of shrimp. The sauce was delightful. I sat right down at the bar during lunch hour and was promptly greeted and taken care of. The waitress was friendly and... More

We were visiting University of New Orleans and wanted to try some local food. I had the BBQ shrimp po-boy (sauce was great for dunking bread) and my wife had half a fried shrimp po-boy (the half was huge, bread was best part!) and chicken/sausage gumbo. Both were outstanding! The service was quick and good. Atmosphere is like a bar,... More

Awesome poboys and beers in big mugs! Had a great soft shell crab plate and the fries were homemade. Gumbo had a bit too much thyme or bay leaf flavor, other than that everything was great!

I stopped by here for lunch after a kayak trip as it was recommended by locals. This was my first ever visit to New Orleans, and at first glance some neighborhoods look a little sketchy, this place looks no different but is an absolute MUST! It was just wonderful inside, and I think I had the best sandwich of my... More

The service is good but the food is not good. If you are traveling and looking for good NOLA local food- looks somewhere else. L prefer Liuzzas on Bienville St.

We took friends from out of town, and it couldn't have been better. Lots of choices of New Orleans classics, done the real way, cooked and served by true New Orleans people. Our friends were not only bowled over by the food, but three different people who worked there came over with little samples of food for their baby, so... More

Love, love this NOLA secret place. It's off the beaten path just off beautiful Esplanade Avenue. It's between French Quarter & City Park right by fairgrounds where Jazz Fest is. BBQ Shrimp are amazing! egg plant is delicious! Everything I've ever tried! darn good gumbo too! 😋😋😋

Great roast beef po-boys, and beer in a frozen mug is awesome. If you happen to be in the area, worth stopping in for a frozen beer...
