Excellent food, among the best we have had in New Orleans. The decor is not as fancy as some and the waitresses wear white uniform dresses and walking shoes. But the service and food is awesome. The crab meat au gratin is excellent and very filling. It does come in a small looking bowl, but it's deep and more than... More

Came here on the recommendation of a friend for crawfish etouffe. Enjoyed the food very much. The restaurant was simple, quiet and a little bit elegant, which was a nice respite from the heat and craziness of NOLA. Our server was a bit unfriendly, which I didn't care for. We felt as though we were a bother to her and... More

Start out with the Rum Ramsey special drink. Our waiter Matt was great and very attentive and told us to take our time and enjoy the restaurant. He was very professional and helpful. The gumbo was very tasty. The crawfish Etouffee was spiced just right with lots of crawfish and just a little rice! The shrimp etouffee likewise was well... More

Based on the reviews, we expected something special in New Orleans. While the service was attentive and helpful, the food itself was just average, something we could have eaten anywhere in the U.S. Also, there was strange, musty smell in the air -- almost like a subway in NYC, not very appetizing.

Ate here twice on our recent trip. Both times for dinner. Not crowded, good service and good food. Try the Rum Ramsey, their signature drink, very good and only available there. Fish is of good quality, and the staff bends over backwards. Never needed a reservation because the place just is not that noticable, but that was fine with us.

We enjoyed this cafe immensely! It is one of two perfect meals in our lifetime. Every single thing was great, from the bread to the vegetables, to the fish, and to the desert (bread pudding)! ...and the drinks. Perfect!

The atmosphere and the service were great but the food was way too salty. We had the crawfish jambalaya and the shrimp jambalaya and I could almost feel my blood pressure shooting up due to the high levels of salt in the rice. Very disappointing for a pricey dish.

We chose the Bon Ton Café for a birthday party and weren't disappointed. The local flavor dishes were excellently prepared and enjoyed by all. And then the birthday cake arrived, whiskey bread pudding! It doesn't get any better than that!!

Our server, Matt, was beyond perfect. We had the crawfish bisque (the best I've ever had), shrimp etoufee (my hubby couldn't stop raving about it), grilled fish (order the onion rings-amazing!), and of course the bread pudding. Recommend putting the sauce on the side since it could be strong for some; but for gosh sakes, order the bread pudding with... More

Crawfish ettoffee, fried catfish and crawfish for an appitizer, what more could I want. This meal alone was worth the flight to New Orleans! My Uncle and cousins are locals and they come her all the time and introduced me to the place. One word AWESOME! Love it!

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
