Went here on recommendation of our hotel concierge. it was not too far from us and we both really liked it. Great authentic ambience and food. Turtle soup - different than what my husband expected but he was very happy he tried it. He also had the fried Louisiana oysters and thought they were good. I had a salad and... More

We had a great dinner here. With all the good places in New Orleans this is one of the best. Our food was fantastic, Our waiter was great as was the atmosphere of this small restaurant. We would highly recommend.

Excellent service. All the seafood was excellent . I had delicious blackened red fish. Tiny one person restrooms ? and I would suggest no children. Reservations a must.

I have to agree with the previous TA reviewer who wrote that Bon Ton was overrated. My husband and I had dinner there last night and found the food to be very pricey. After checking out the menu, we decided to skip the appetizers and ordered just two entrees; a soft shell crab with sautéed potatoes which was good, and... More

The crawfish etouffee was so good Monday that we had to try several more restaurants over the last two days to compare and hands down they have the best. Do not be scared by the price of their crawfish etouffee. Quality does have its price. But they use fresh, not frozen. The cream cauliflower made a believer out of us... More

My wife and I shared a fantastic meal at the Bon Ton Cafe. The Crab au Gratin was one of the most rich, luxurious, and delightful things I've ever eaten. The Crawfish Dinner was also an excellent choice, and gave us a chance to try a number of specialties. And of course, the Bread Pudding with Whiskey Sauce was a... More

While this restaurant is a bit pricey, it's not at all stuffy and the food is absolutely top drawer. Their signature dishes are perfect. In a city of wonderful restaurants, the Bon Ton stands out as one of the best. The service, the atmosphere, the waitperson's menu knowledge...it's not to be missed.

We have been coming here for over 30 years and it is always good. The Redfish dishes are wonderful however they are prepared. The Bread Pudding with Whiskey sauce is simply the best! The staff and owners are so welcoming and friendly! If you want a local flavor then stop here!

Bon Ton Cafe is a fabulous restaurant, very authentic New Orleans cuisine. I've been there several times and everything I've tried on the menu is great. They're only open Monday thru Friday and I recommend making a reservations. Convenient location, there is a parking lot near the restaurant but its not free

Old world charm right on Magazine Street! Everything about this place, from the entrance to the table settings to the food to the wonderful staff, make this an absolute gem in NOLA. I was taking a bus tour through the city and the guide mentioned that if one wanted spectacular food to go to Bon Ton Cafe. Suffice it to... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
