We scheduled Christmas dinner with Broussard’s, understanding it is a very busy day when most employees would rather be elsewhere. We were still disappointed. We were seated timely. The restaurant itself appeared clean and well appointed. Our waiter was not attentive, to the point he and his assistant were only at the table 4x during a 3 hour endeavor. We had to wait for water refills. The appetizer trio offered had so much crab shell debris that we could not eat it. There were even egg shells in one of the dishes. Same with the crab cake. The orders came out incorrectly. Which the manager did address. The shining star was actually the pork chop which was tender, juicy, flavorful and a significant portion. The bananas foster was a let down, given they prepare it table side. Once the meal was done, and the kids began to stir, it took a half an hour to get and settle our bill. To do so I had to leave my table and find another wait staff to assist us.

We had brunch at Broussards on Sunday and the food, service, and ambience were very good. I had the turtle soup, and the chicken and waffles—my only complaint would be the chicken was not as crispy as I would have liked, but overall the food was delicious. The wait staff were very attentive, and concerned that the meal was to our liking. The jazz band were skilled, and did not play too loudly, which was appreciated.

Broussard's is an absolute must do while in New Orleans. The restaurant is easy to find and has that wonderful old school fancy feel. I have to start by saying the service was amazing. Lionel was our server and in addition to being a wonderful server he was also very kind and nice to talk to. He went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. For my starter I had the gumbo and loved it. I also had some of the fried chicken livers that my friend ordered. They were good as well but not as good as the gumbo was. For my entree I had the grilled pork chop. Since I am not a fan of sweet potatoes I requested fries instead and they had no problem accommodating that. the pork chop was cooked perfectly. For dessert I had the bananas foster. This is always a great dish but something about having it in New Orleans made it even better. Overall Broussard's was fantastic and I will without a doubt I will return next time I am in New Orleans.

For the cost, service was atrocious and the food was overdone. The lamb and sides were nothing special. The scalloped potatoes were underdone. The bourbon cake was burnt to a crisp, dense and dry. The entire affair took 2 hrs and 30 minutes. One entree was forgotten and our server was absent for 30 minutes. We called management and she was quite rude. The bills were not properly split, we were overcharged and we were late to preservation hall. There are better choices.

Broussard's is a lovely setting in classic New Orleans dining, with what must be a beautiful courtyard when it's open. Making our reservation, getting confirmed, and getting our table on time went fine on New Year's Day, toward the end of brunch time. Our party of 4 sat down, bringing our own drinks from the bar, and our waiter and 2 assistants popped by (separately) to share their names; they were clearly rushed and overwhelmed, though the restaurant was less than half full. From there, everything took MUCH longer than it should, with no checking in on our drinks, no refills on things like tea, and honestly, whenever the servers stopped by, there was no sense of warmth or welcome at all. The food was nicer than expected considering the level of service issues, so the issue doesn't appear to be in the kitchen, but (as feared) items came out lukewarm at best. We ordered our desserts in advance off of the prix fixe menu, but more than 20 minutes went by after our plates were cleared and we had no desserts, no offer of drinks, no contact at all. We finally flagged down a server, and then had our desserts within 2 minutes.
We understand the Covid staffing challenges and certainly have seen them over 3 days in New Orleans. However, we've been at a range of restaurants (including some fine dining at the Broussard's level and above), and even when servers were clearly overworked and rushed, they were friendly and helpful, especially as we tried to be supportive of their situation. Broussard's was the only place where the service was simply incompetent, unprepared, and unfriendly. We hope to be able to try it again once staffing issues ease, as the food was nice. This was one of our more expensive meals in NoLA (about $270 for 4 people, which is a LOT for brunch with light drinkers), and it was very disappointing.

Food and atmosphere just don't get better than this, me and my wife have never been this impressed by a meal ever. The bbq shrimp and grits, Josephine benedict and chicken and waffles were each the best possible versions of those dishes that you could possibly imagine. The craft cocktails were truly something special, as was the service from our two wonderful waiters and the delightful manager that came to make sure everything about our experience was perfect. The stunning courtyard and live jazz trio, along with the final touch of a theatrical table side bananas foster dessert, all set the stage for what will surely be our most unforgettable and special Easter as a family. Thank you for everything Broussard's, we WILL be back.

We wanted an early afternoon meal, after the noon rush but not evening as we had other plans. We called for a reservation and they gave us a 2 or 3pm time. We chose the 3pm. When we arrived they told us that they shut down the main dining rooms at 3 in order to clean and set up for the evening meals, but could accommodate us in the bar. We wanted a fine dining experience but since it was very hard to get into a really nice restaurant on short notice decided to do the bar thing. We were seated at a small table next to a window which was nice. The lunch menu was limited but I ordered a redfish dish but my wife had trouble finding much on the menu that sounded interesting. She ordered the barbecued shrimp and grits. My redfish was good. The shrimp and grits was 6 medium shrimp in a bowl with grits in the middle and some sauce around the grits, and the shrimp placed around that. Very expensive for what it was. Our waiter acted like he was bothered by us even being there. No personality at all. Came by once briefly and we didn't see him again. I asked the bartender to find him. He brought our check and put it on the table and walked off. No comments or thanks. This was $100 thrown away. We could have eated at Popeyes and enjoyed it more. We should have left when they could not seat us in the dining area, our fault, but when you make a reservation for 3pm they should inform you that you can only eat in the bar.

We had a lovely meal. Some service fails such as placing an appetizer not even belonging to our table in front of me, not delivering two dishes that we ordered (we did not starve) and having difficulty getting a server to take dessert orders, fill water, clear dishes, etc.
The food was quite good and we loved the ambiance. That Carnival Cake is the stuff of dreams. Bananas Foster live presentation was fun (although as if a comedy of errors our presentation stopped because we ran out of gas in the stove!).
I would return and we had a lot of fun.

A super outdated menu and cooking style, compounded by strangely awkward service. Dishes were bland, over-cooked and frozen in time from the 90s (not in a good way). I will forgive the experience a little bit thanks to how Covid ruined the hospitality industry in recent years but this place needs a Restaurant Nightmare episode in a big way, The grand finale of the night was watching a tremendous rat run underneath the tables as we were leaving. Very disappointing and embarrassing to me for those I brought along. I wish I had paid more attention to recent reviews.

We traveled to Broussard’s for a birthday dinner. The service was impeccable, and Maddie answered every question we had about the menu, since we are from New England and were unfamiliar with some of the preparations (I.e. bronzed redfish). We ordered the crab cake and oysters Broussard for appetizer, and then ordered the pork belly, duck, and pompano Pontchartrain.
It was easily one of the best meals of my life. The dining room is beautiful, and we enjoyed delicious cocktails and very generous pours of wine with dinner. The Isadora Duncan is particularly good.
You will not be disappointed.

We had the worst experience here. It was my husband’s bday and the service couldn’t have been worse. The bus boy brought out our food and I watched as neither of our 2 waitresses brought out our food. It got to the point where I planned on serving the 2 of us but my husband was too embarrassed. By the time we finally got our food it was ice cold. When I cut through my steak it was extremely over cooked. We paid for bottomless mimosas and got maybe 2 glasses of champagne. I went years ago and was hoping for the same service but clearly they are not up to the same caliber. My husband was less than impressed and I felt awful. Needless to say we will never return and don’t waste your money there when there are plenty of other places that are much better. What a disappointment

I was so disappointed about the subpar brunch we had today. I was embarrassed that my out of town friends had to experience cold, overcooked food at a famous Sunday brunch place in the Quarter. Three out of five of our group ordered eggs Benedict which was overdone and cold. However, the chicken and waffles, the salad, and the bread basket was good.
In addition, the jazz combo never moved from the front room-we were in the back room. We asked and they said the combo would eventually get to us but after two hours, no sign of the band!
It was their last day in NO so I feel the experience left a very negative impression. I wanted to send back the food but they were too polite to do that. The interesting part was that it wasn’t even crowded so all the seating could have been in the front room with the music. I guess now I know why it wasn’t crowded!

Broussard's is a beautiful old French Quarter restaurant. Our first Sunday jazz brunch there started great with a very pleasant bar experience. Nice bartenders serving good drinks. We went to our table in very pleasant room room with the nice ambiance of a jazz combo playing in the background. We were assigned two waiters... one for drinks and one for food. Service strted off great, attentive, and prompt. Kitchen was also on time and food was presented at the right temperature. Each of our appetizer choices was good with a nice assortment of really good breads, pretty good Brussel sprouts and charred oysters that were... good but could have been so much better. Entrees were hit and miss. Bronzed Redfish was pretty but needed so much more something to add flavor. Shrimp and grits was really good. Our other choices were just fair at best.
Things then went down. Our ladies wanted dessert, but there was no one around to take our order. It was like they served us and then forgot us. One of our two waiters was across the room visiting with two female guests for quite a while. Our food waiter was AWOL. We eventually got the attention of a server and ordered creme brûlée which was really good.
Things went well for a while then the service just totally dissappeared.
Ambiance is excellent. Prices are fair. Consistency in service is really spotty.

We booked a SANTA Brunch for my family at 2:30pm. They were actually taking reservations until 3:00pm, so we were not the last seating of the day. The price was listed as $65 per person because of the Special Event (Santa). I called the restaurant to ask about a children's menu/kid pricing. I was told that they were still in the process of creating the menu, but that the children's menu is typically around $20-25 per person. We arrived at the restaurant at 2:20pm, to check in for our 2:30pm reservation and before we were even seated we saw Santa leaving. We stayed for brunch, only to learn that there was not a children's menu, the price for children was also $65, because of the Santa experience that we missed. I asked our server why Santa left, since the brunch was after all a "Santa Brunch" and the server replied, "I'm not sure, he usually sticks around longer, but for some reason he got out of here early today." You can imagine that was exactly the response we were looking for, so we asked for a manager, hoping for a more satisfactory response. The manager was not available, so they sent another associate to our table to inform us that we were past the time of the Santa Brunch, even though our reservations were at 2:30pm, and they were advertising reservations until 3pm. I also told him that I thought it was unfair that we were charged full price for Santa Brunch, since there was no Santa. That is the very reason I got my kids dressed up, so come see Santa and get a nice family photo. I was offered a complimentary dessert which equated to a $50 discount, off of a $700 bill. Here is the real kicker, the advertisement for the brunch listed a complimentary dessert... so we got nothing but disappointed children and a $650 bill, and that was before gratuity. Total rip off!

Sadly this restaurant was very disappointing. Our waitress said that she had someone that would be training with her so we thought that would be great and would add to great service. First I asked how big the salads were and her reply was not large but not small. What? You can't use a hand gesture to give me an idea? She took our drink and dinner order. Drinks came and about 20 minutes later our salads arrived at which point we ordered another drink. They didn't arrive until 3/4 of the way through our main course.....just as I was headed to find the manager. He said he would comp our desserts however we don't eat desserts. Why didn't he comp the drinks that were late? We had to ask for more bread and butter. Service was really bad for this scale of a restaurant and waitress was not friendly at all. Bad person to be training someone new. At the end of our $200 dinner she just plopped the bill on the table.....not "I hope you have a great evening, thank you for dining with us, etc. I am sure New Orleans has restaurants with food that is just as good if not better but have staff that actually wait on you and act like they are happy that you came to eat at their establishment.

French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
