The sushi here is very fresh and comes with zones of variety. The prices are a little high but for the freshness of the fish, it makes it tolerable. The service isn't terrible but you definitely feel rushed.

It had been a while since I'd had lunch at Sake Café on Magazine. When we pulled into the parking lot, I was struck by how few cars were in the lot. When I went inside I immediately noticed a change in the front of the house staff. No one was Asian, and there was a lack of energy. Smooth... More

Sadly, this is not the restaurant it once was. I am from New Orleans and used to be regular. The sushi is no longer fresh, the service is poor, and the servers (and even management) rude. There are too many other good sushi places uptown/Garden District/Warehouse District these days. Skip Sake until it gets it act together again.

I like this space a lot, like the fact that it's not brightly lit and loud like so many other sushi restaurants. I always enjoy my meal here, and it's a good place for visiting with dining companions. While the food is very good, it's not different or mind-blowing. Menu selection is pretty standard, with "specialty rolls" that are typical... More

Another regular dining stop on our visits to NOLA. Easily walkable from the St. Charles streetcar stop on St. Charles Ave. Past the cemetery and Commanders Palace (where they will not serve you if you are wearing any length of shorts). Their rolls are very reasonably priced and so very good. The Bento box lunches are also good.

The sushi was amazing as well as the sake. We ordered take out and while we waited, we noticed all the signed celebrity photos on the walls--fun! I would love to come back and take in the full experience. The sushi rolls made my night!

I ate here years ago with my husband and we often say it is some of the best Sushi we have ever eaten, so when I had the opportunity to take my daughter, we were both excited yet apprehensive. It is hard to live up to that kind of hype and it had been so long, many things could have... More

My dad and I love this place. So, when my wife came to New Orleans for the first time, it was a must. She loves sushi and she told me this was the best sushi she has had in America. I love the environment and it's in a great location on Magazine St.

Sushi here is delicious! We lucked out when trying to find a sushi restaurant in the Garden District with this one. Only set back is the "crunchy roll" is not a tempura crunchy, rather a normal rice roll with sesame seeds sprinkled on top.

Since its opening, Sake Cafe' has swept the New Orleans sushi scene like a tsunami. The menu incorporates traditional Japanese cuisine and New Orleans flavors like Jazz Roll, Uptown Roll and New Orleans Roll. Our Chef creates unique fusion dishes, which are as beautiful as they are delicious. The striking interior creates a "Chic" environment for indulging in exotic offerings from Uni to Aji. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable. Private seating up to 50 is available upstairs.

Staying in Garden District

Neighborhood Profile
Garden District
Head to the Garden District for the full-on New Orleans experience replete with quaintly clanking streetcars, proudly grandiose antebellum mansions, picture perfect avenues lined with live oaks loaded down with Spanish moss, and a wealth of beautiful churches and many more architectural marvels. Even a brief excursion here makes plain why it’s called the Garden District. So, when you visit be sure to give yourself ample time for admiration at a languidly slow pace befitting such gentile strand of riverside living and to allow you to maximize each opportunity to stop and smell the roses – and whichever other blooms you might come across. While taking it all in, you’d do well to dine at one of the city’s most beloved destinations for regional cuisine. Gourmands from far and wide (and right round the corner) swear the age-old Commander’s Palace is the best restaurant in town – and have been doing so since it opened back in 1880.
