Music and band in here were very very good. The two female singers were outstanding and the band were tight too. Yes lots of tipping and drink more expensive than Bourbon but certainly worth it to get the true flavour of jazz in NOLA

My wife and I wanted to get away from Bourbon St. for a night so we heard about Frenchman St. All local musicians with great music all over, inside and outside. We ended up here and really enjoyed the band and the atmosphere.

Amazing reggae music! The band had my husband and I dancing all night long. They were cheerful and kept the crowd moving.

This place is just like the result of those late night "let's open a bar in the garage" conversations. It's like a bunch of guys got together to have a cool time with some good Mexican food, good beer, and good music. We saw an awesome jazz band who clearly loved performing, and the acts on other nights sounded like... More

I've been here a few times and always enjoyed it. Groups are well chosen, very talented musicians, with a variety of styles. I've heard folk rock, jazzy rock and country blues. The food is very reasonably priced for the quality--two chicken tacos on soft tortillas with sour cream for $9, a beer for $5. There aren't too many tables so... More

We were planning to go to the spotted cat, but it was packed, so we went across the street. The music and food were amazing. The drinks and food were reasonable. Great stop. Will be a regular stop for us.

Staying in Faubourg Marigny & Bywater

Neighborhood Profile
Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny & Bywater.
