Another great spot to grab a middle Eastern lunch option when visiting the Convention Center. Go for it!

My husband and I had early dinner here. We both had the gyros plate -- very large with lots of meat, big salad, hummus and pita bread. I thought it was really delicious. Server was very good.

My wife and I remembered Mona's (on Frenchmen St) from a previous visit to NOLA and made a point of going back on a return visit to the city. We had a very tasty lamb shank special which we thought could be enhanced with a touch more spice. We asked for some chili sauce and got a little cup of... More

We had a good lunch for a good price, on the other hand the place is not really nice but you can forget that when you see the food.

There are several Mona's Cafes in NOLA. I've frequented this one on Magazine for the past year. I'm addicted to their Shawarma platter. The salad is delicious and so is there hummus. I've ordered take out a dozen times and never had a problem, however, the one time I chose to dine in their service was terrible. Not sure if... More

I was in New Orleans visiting a friend last June. Both he and I are foodies so I made him start planning, waaayyyyy in advance, all of the New Orleans restaurants we should go to...particularly ethnic restaurants (my hometown has VERY few imaginative restaurants) whole I was there. I was looking forward to trying as many new places as possible.... More

We were here for lunch with a bunch of friend and the service was so so. Our waitress clearly looked like she was high. We had a big order and she didn't even write it all down and when we asked her if she would be able to remember everything, her response was "Maybe" Food was at least decent.

Take a break from rich food to enjoy this authentic Middle Eastern fare. I had Dolmas and Tabouli both outstanding. This is a great place for a break while shopping on Magazine St.

Mona's Café This Light Middle Eastern Café as it describes itself is a Gem of a find. We called in because we saw the offer outside the building offering Lamb Shank, and being both English and home of the tastiest lamb you can buy plus longing for vegetables which should accompany this dish we entered. What a surprise when we... More

We just had the family there and it was great as always. We had the Mona's special swapping out the grape leaves for extra falafel. It is very good size and everything is excellent. We especially love their falafel. The beef shawarma and the gyro plate was extremely good as well. My only complaint is that there pita bread tends... More

Staying in Garden District

Neighborhood Profile
Garden District
Head to the Garden District for the full-on New Orleans experience replete with quaintly clanking streetcars, proudly grandiose antebellum mansions, picture perfect avenues lined with live oaks loaded down with Spanish moss, and a wealth of beautiful churches and many more architectural marvels. Even a brief excursion here makes plain why it’s called the Garden District. So, when you visit be sure to give yourself ample time for admiration at a languidly slow pace befitting such gentile strand of riverside living and to allow you to maximize each opportunity to stop and smell the roses – and whichever other blooms you might come across. While taking it all in, you’d do well to dine at one of the city’s most beloved destinations for regional cuisine. Gourmands from far and wide (and right round the corner) swear the age-old Commander’s Palace is the best restaurant in town – and have been doing so since it opened back in 1880.
