The food was fantastic and the service was great. My wife had the falafel plate and the Arabic salad. I had the lamb shish kebab. Both were excellent. We will definitely return the next time we are in New Orleans.

The attitude of the waitress was awful and they charge for extra lemons if you ask for some without telling you that in advance. When we saw the surprise in the bill, we told the waitress that she should say in advance and then she answered, "well the lemons are not for free". So unpolite.

I was actually on my way to grab lunch somewhere else when Mona's caught my eye like a beacon in the night. I quickly turned around and found myself here in a fairly empty restaurant at around 2 pm on a weekday. I sat down and the waiter (owner) came over quickly to take care of me. I knew exactly... Another great spot to grab a middle Eastern lunch option when visiting the Convention Center. Go for it!

My husband and I had early dinner here. We both had the gyros plate -- very large with lots of meat, big salad, hummus and pita bread. I thought it was really delicious. Server was very good.

My wife and I remembered Mona's (on Frenchmen St) from a previous visit to NOLA and made a point of going back on a return visit to the city. We had a very tasty lamb shank special which we thought could be enhanced with a touch more spice. We asked for some chili sauce and got a little cup of... More

We had a good lunch for a good price, on the other hand the place is not really nice but you can forget that when you see the food.

There are several Mona's Cafes in NOLA. I've frequented this one on Magazine for the past year. I'm addicted to their Shawarma platter. The salad is delicious and so is there hummus. I've ordered take out a dozen times and never had a problem, however, the one time I chose to dine in their service was terrible. Not sure if... More

Staying in Garden District

Neighborhood Profile
Garden District
Head to the Garden District for the full-on New Orleans experience replete with quaintly clanking streetcars, proudly grandiose antebellum mansions, picture perfect avenues lined with live oaks loaded down with Spanish moss, and a wealth of beautiful churches and many more architectural marvels. Even a brief excursion here makes plain why it’s called the Garden District. So, when you visit be sure to give yourself ample time for admiration at a languidly slow pace befitting such gentile strand of riverside living and to allow you to maximize each opportunity to stop and smell the roses – and whichever other blooms you might come across. While taking it all in, you’d do well to dine at one of the city’s most beloved destinations for regional cuisine. Gourmands from far and wide (and right round the corner) swear the age-old Commander’s Palace is the best restaurant in town – and have been doing so since it opened back in 1880.
