Even our Uber driver that took us home commended us on our choice of restaurant! The food and service were exquisite. Four of us chose different entrees, and we all raved about our choices. The shrimp and grits were sublime. I would return in a heart beat.

This place was fantastic. Wife found it online, doing a google search for brunch in the Garden District, and it did not disappoint in any way. You can see this place can get very busy very quickly. Bloody mary bar, or mimosas, for the brunch crowd, and we waited less time than it took to drink our first drink, so... More

Outstanding restaurant. Fried green tomatoes with hollandaise sauce and lump crabmeat is heavenly. Eggs Atchafalaya in incredible! Cheese grits are the best! Go, enjoy, and overeat

I had brunch at Atchafalaya. I had an omelette that was well prepared. My ambivalence results from the service. I was eating alone, so perhaps not as desired a customer. I went long periods without attention from my server and then rushed service followed by another period of inattention. Another server offered to help and then seemed to misplace my... More

Small warm and cozy restaurant. Nicely decorated. Food was excellent and the service was very good. I like unique places that don't feel like a huge production. This is the kind of place where you could talk to the owner who I believe greeted us. Although you could probably bring kids, I doubt most young kids would appreciate the culinary... More

We had an amazing first visit to Atchafalaya. From the minute we arrived, the hosts were so friendly and accommodating. Our waitress, Rachel, was so friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. All of the staff worked really well together. Our food was SO SO GOOD. We had crab bisque and a special raw red snapper appetizer to start. YUMMY. Our entrees were... More

Staying in Garden District

Neighborhood Profile
Garden District
Head to the Garden District for the full-on New Orleans experience replete with quaintly clanking streetcars, proudly grandiose antebellum mansions, picture perfect avenues lined with live oaks loaded down with Spanish moss, and a wealth of beautiful churches and many more architectural marvels. Even a brief excursion here makes plain why it’s called the Garden District. So, when you visit be sure to give yourself ample time for admiration at a languidly slow pace befitting such gentile strand of riverside living and to allow you to maximize each opportunity to stop and smell the roses – and whichever other blooms you might come across. While taking it all in, you’d do well to dine at one of the city’s most beloved destinations for regional cuisine. Gourmands from far and wide (and right round the corner) swear the age-old Commander’s Palace is the best restaurant in town – and have been doing so since it opened back in 1880.
