Located about 15 minutes South of the French Quarter this 100+ year old restaurant has everything you will want for an amazing brunch. Live entertainment, Bloody Mary self serve bar, skilled bartenders (try the Grandpa Sour) and a sumptuous menu filled with traditional delights. Great atmosphere, make a reservation!

So good!! Not just the food but the service and staff too. There are many choices in New Orleans but you are doing yourself a disservice if you do not go to Atchafalaya. In the garden district the food is delicious. I had the Shrimp and Grits my wife wife had the Drum (fish) both flavorful and outstanding. The service... More

2 couples that wanted great food & conversation went for Sunday brunch. Got the great food...french toast, duck hash, veggie omlet, eggs Atchafalaya. Every dish was delicious! Great conversation...NOT. We could not hear each other talking. The trio was good but the music was TOO loud! We expected either easy listening or jazz @ brunch. We would need to call & inquire... Was very excited to try brunch here and have to say it was the most disappointing meal of my trip to New Orleans. The staff were very friendly and helpful. However, our food took forever to come out. When it finally came it, the food wasn't hot. Two of us ordered the signature Eggs Atchafalaya and both thought the dish... More

Why does one go for brunch, or to dine out at all? One might think having a conversation would be a part of it, even among the texting-addicted. This was our first visit to this popular local restaurant, and we were looking forward to it. We are not old, and we love music. However, we walked into an ear-splitting wall... More

As a minor league foodie, I always look forward to finding new gems when I travel. Atchafalaya was my husband's suggestion, and I obliged. We both loved it, but I think I may have loved it even more than he did. We arrived early for our reservation, which was good, because we got the opportunity to enjoy some of their... More

Set in the quiet Garden District neighborhood, the Atchafalaya is located in a home, but the food is definitely expertly prepared. The fried soft shell crab was fresh and tender. The free form crab ravioli will have you moan and wanting more.

Perfection. That's how I would describe this place. MUST try the Free Form Crab Ravioli. There may be some highly addictive substances sprinkled in there, as nothing can taste that amazing normally. Also got the Soft Shell Crab which was a complete hit! Beautifully placed in a quaint neighborhood, this place should be Michelin rated. You won't regret it. Call... More

Best gnocchi we've ever had... all nine of us. We were celebrating a friends bday here and from food to drinks to service to price to location to atmosphere, this was exceptional!

Busy, busy, busy. Staff were friendly and helpful and as i was dining alone i was looked after pretty well. I had booked in advance and it was def necessary. Was seated upstairs which i think is a little bit out of the thick of it, not as lively, but still good. Had the duck hash, was amazing. Thought the... More

Staying in Garden District

Neighborhood Profile
Garden District
Head to the Garden District for the full-on New Orleans experience replete with quaintly clanking streetcars, proudly grandiose antebellum mansions, picture perfect avenues lined with live oaks loaded down with Spanish moss, and a wealth of beautiful churches and many more architectural marvels. Even a brief excursion here makes plain why it’s called the Garden District. So, when you visit be sure to give yourself ample time for admiration at a languidly slow pace befitting such gentile strand of riverside living and to allow you to maximize each opportunity to stop and smell the roses – and whichever other blooms you might come across. While taking it all in, you’d do well to dine at one of the city’s most beloved destinations for regional cuisine. Gourmands from far and wide (and right round the corner) swear the age-old Commander’s Palace is the best restaurant in town – and have been doing so since it opened back in 1880.
