This restaurant was excellent. Extremely friendly staff. I went there by myself for dinner. They timed the food perfectly so I did not feel rushed. The fried green tomatoes w/ lump crab meat on top appetizer was amazing. For my main meal I had the Truffle fried chicken which was so delicious. While waiting for my uber the host gave... More

Great service and really good food. Relatively quite and intimate dining. Easy to carry on a conversation. Great sauces. They also make a good gin gimlet.

Everything we tried was wonderful - great soup, appetizers, and main entrees. The service is attentive and takes the food seriously. Very original preparation, and quality ingredients. Perhaps the decaf coffee could have been better but, after such a feast, could not grumble.....

My wife and I had brunch on Monday of Thanksgiving week. The staff was pleasant and attentive. The room nice. We ordered the Etouffee Omelette and the Chicken and Biscuits with eggs. Everything was well presented on the plate. The disappointment was the limited flavor from each dish and the feeling that everything was measured exactly in the kitchen, especially... More

Last night I attended this restaurant and it was EXCELLENT. The food was great! The atmosphere was great, the staff was very forthcoming and helpful with selecting certain dishes to try. Special Thanks to Max, he was the absolute BEST WAITER I have encountered. Very friendly and informative. I give this place a thumbs up across the board! I'll be... More

I've enjoyed many memorable meals, including at many Michelin 3 stars in France & Belgium, and only less than a handful have blown my socks off. I'm delighted that Atchafalaya has joined that elite group of the penultimate restaurants that are worth the journey. This restaurant is a visual delight with a great atmosphere and vibe. Catch the beautiful carving... More

I was playing tourist with my wife in New Orleans last week. We consulted TA for where to eat. I like to try places I haven't been before and thus had not heard of Atchafalaya. We easily made reservations online and found our way there. I just have to say, as someone who has grown up in New Orleans, and... More

Ii think this was the best meals I had during my four night stay in the city. Shared a warm goat salad and truffle fried chicken breast. Salad was so savory and filling it could have been an entree. Chicken breast was so juicy and tender. I know it's a little weird to go on and on over chicken. You... More

We met the owner Anthony who is a real gem. The bartender was a lovely young lady who was great. Then the dinner. I was told to have the shrimp and grits, I did and cannot rave enough about my meal. Still dreaming about it. My wife's was no less wonderful. Ambiance is great, service wonderful and we will absolutely... More

Staying in Garden District

Neighborhood Profile
Garden District
Head to the Garden District for the full-on New Orleans experience replete with quaintly clanking streetcars, proudly grandiose antebellum mansions, picture perfect avenues lined with live oaks loaded down with Spanish moss, and a wealth of beautiful churches and many more architectural marvels. Even a brief excursion here makes plain why it’s called the Garden District. So, when you visit be sure to give yourself ample time for admiration at a languidly slow pace befitting such gentile strand of riverside living and to allow you to maximize each opportunity to stop and smell the roses – and whichever other blooms you might come across. While taking it all in, you’d do well to dine at one of the city’s most beloved destinations for regional cuisine. Gourmands from far and wide (and right round the corner) swear the age-old Commander’s Palace is the best restaurant in town – and have been doing so since it opened back in 1880.
