This is a small restaurant that is mainly accessible from downtown by car. We have visited it for anniversaries, pop-up events and casual dining. The large portion of gulf fish (Amberjack) was simply and deliciously prepared without the addition of a rich sauce. The trois mignons (three filet mignons) were tasty but unfortunately the mashed potatoes they adorned could have... More

Food was very good. Gulf fish sandwich was excellent. Waiter never checked back on refills for coffee, ink pen waiter gave us leaked all over my hand and credit card. Asked for lemon for water brought slices so thin it was hard to get any juice for our water.

Worth the short trip on the Saint Charles Street Car (the street car runs on its own schedule) and a short walk to Dante's Kitchen. Great New Orlean's cuisine. Servers are attentive. Great drinks, appetizers and meals.

I like broccoli and would guess that in my lifetime I may have eaten half a ton of it. The very best ounces in that amount were last week at Dante's Kitchen. Our daughter thought that Dante's cauliflower soup was even better than the broccoli; that case could be argued, but I'd still vote for the broccoli. This is obviously... More

Eaten at Dante's maybe a dozen times now, always a destination for us on trips to New Orleans. This time was like all the others, great food, great service. There's nothing else much to say, I'd recommend it because you're not likely to ever have any problems at all here.

a touch of the south on a warm night with dinner outside in front of the house. We felt like at home. Started of with good cocktails, then choice of sharing starters from a spicy hot stew to tomates ala new orleans. The main courses are huge the brick chicken was great as was the halfshell fish fillet with crab... More

The location in a converted house in Riverbend is charming. The $35 3-course summer special with options is a great deal. The portions are plentiful. The food is good. The corn and crab soup had a good flavor but could have used more substance. The pork chop with greens and cornbread was good and the complimentary molasses spoon bread was... More

At first I was a bit skeptical when we pulled up, it's located in a neighborhood in a house converted to a restaurant, but it's a cool place to eat. It's low lighting so good for romantic dinners. To start they brought out a small skillet of bread (like cornbread) it was amazing! Our table ordered Redfish, Trois Mignons, Gulf... More

Staying in Uptown / Carrollton

Neighborhood Profile
Uptown / Carrollton
Very much their own self sufficient unit within the greater metro area, Uptown and Carrollton tone down the urban edge with a friendly attitude and collegiate feel. Home to Tulane and Loyola Universities, all the students living in the area ensure that Uptown and Carrollton stay youthful, cosmopolitan and vibrantly fun. Two of the liveliest thoroughfares for nightlife and socializing (and yes of course more of the city’s outstandingly good food and live music) are Oak Street and Maple Street. For a truly wild time, the expansive acreage of Audubon Park, with its zoo, golf course, and actual patches of swampy wetlands, means peace and quiet are never too far away.
