At first I was a bit skeptical when we pulled up, it's located in a neighborhood in a house converted to a restaurant, but it's a cool place to eat. It's low lighting so good for romantic dinners. To start they brought out a small skillet of bread (like cornbread) it was amazing! Our table ordered Redfish, Trois Mignons, Gulf... More

Have now been here for dinner twice this spring, and both times were excellent. The meal starts with molasses spoonbread right from the oven, then you have a choice of small or large plates. I recommend the shrimp and grits, side of peas, the Basque style fish and especially the traditional crawfish maque choux. The chocolate ganache cake comes with... More

One of the best brunches we've ever had!Well worth the uber trip to uptown for this amazing place. We both tried the specials that were on that day; the duck hash with two fried eggs and a blackberry sauce was amazing and a very generous portion, and the alligator sliders were great too. They came on buttermilk homemade biscuits and... More

Very good date destination. Dining rooms are intimate. Server was very good and gave an excellent wine recommendation. Must rave about the escargots and bone marrow!

Went to Dante's Kitchen on the recommendation of a former Tulane student. Best food I had in New Orleans, and we tried a lot! Farm to table fresh and nice wine list. Upscale food in a comfy corner cottage.

Came looking for boudin rouge(dinner menu only) arrived early for lunch and though disapointed about not having the boudin, it quickly became a distant thought. The buttermilk biscuits with jellies and butter, incredible. The special of the day, duck hash with fried duck egg on top, to die for. Fantastic. Everything I saw come out of the kitchen looked incredible.... More

If I lived in New Orleans I'd eat here many, many nights. I love unusual options on a menu. This particular night they served spoon bread to each table. Delicious. I started with the escargot with the roasted marrow bone. Oh dear lord. So much flavor! The entire dinner, salads and dessert were memorable. They also offer 1/2 glasses of... More

They do not take reservations for their brunch, so we arrived about 10 minutes after they opened and within minutes, there was a line out the door. I had the shrimp and grits. The grits were SO creamy, but the shrimp had the heads and shells which made for a fabulous presentation, but a messy consumption. One friend shared a... More

March the 11, 2016 my wife, myself and sister in law when on an expedition to find a great dinning experience in New Orleans. We happened upon Dante's Kitchen and were pleasantly surprised they could fit us in without reservations as they were quite busy. We were seated at a great table with wonderful decor showing the charm of the... More

Staying in Uptown / Carrollton

Neighborhood Profile
Uptown / Carrollton
Very much their own self sufficient unit within the greater metro area, Uptown and Carrollton tone down the urban edge with a friendly attitude and collegiate feel. Home to Tulane and Loyola Universities, all the students living in the area ensure that Uptown and Carrollton stay youthful, cosmopolitan and vibrantly fun. Two of the liveliest thoroughfares for nightlife and socializing (and yes of course more of the city’s outstandingly good food and live music) are Oak Street and Maple Street. For a truly wild time, the expansive acreage of Audubon Park, with its zoo, golf course, and actual patches of swampy wetlands, means peace and quiet are never too far away.
