Had the best raw oysters I have eaten this year. They were ice cold, salty and just the right size. You can always count on Manale's to have the best oysters in town, and their other dishes are always outstanding as well. I have eaten there many, many times over the past sixty years and have never been disappointed. One... More

Wowzer! The bar b que shrimp is GOOD! The atmosphere was quaint and the service excellent. Now, it is messy (and you are provided with a bib) but don't let that stop you. If I get back to New Orleans, I plan to visit this place again!

The food here is incredibly delicious. The staff is super!! Its in a residential neighborhood so it's a place for locals. We had the bbq shrimp. They are huge and you get plenty! Dip the home made bread in the sauce! I had the chocolate mousse for dessert. Very light and good. If you are in NOLA you have to... More

This restaurant had been on our "to go to" restaurant for years for their barbecue shrimp. We made reservations on line the day before. The restaurant is nice casual dining or "special occasion " dining. I had Oysters Dante. This was fried oysters over a bed of pasta. Although the oysters were outstanding, the pasta was the shining star! The... More

this is not touristy, but mostly local...but a lot of non-locals stop by. Old fashioned bar, great service, simple menu. Order a few cocktails, have bbq shrimp and key lime pie...go home happy

Came back to Pascal's after 20 years (when working a project at Tulane University) and wanted to introduce my wife, brother and his wife to hopefully the great food I had in the past. I was not disappointed. While the atmosphere was more subdued as it was a Monday night the food was not. Service was friendly and great and... More

What can I say?!? This was the best meal I had in New Orleans. Oh course I got their signature barbecue shrimp. Now this is not ketchup, vinegar, brown sugar barbecue. This is gobs of butter and spices broiled to perfection. Mine was so good, I can't even remember what Big Daddy ate! They also serve typical Italian fare and... More

Enjoyed our dinner here on Saturday evening which was a very busy night. Our meals were good but not over the top or outstanding. Service was good but again not extraordinary. The decor is average, the menu selections were not extensive, but basic focusing on seafood which all in party preferred. This is a fine restaurant, but not overly impressionable.

Staying in Uptown / Carrollton

Neighborhood Profile
Uptown / Carrollton
Very much their own self sufficient unit within the greater metro area, Uptown and Carrollton tone down the urban edge with a friendly attitude and collegiate feel. Home to Tulane and Loyola Universities, all the students living in the area ensure that Uptown and Carrollton stay youthful, cosmopolitan and vibrantly fun. Two of the liveliest thoroughfares for nightlife and socializing (and yes of course more of the city’s outstandingly good food and live music) are Oak Street and Maple Street. For a truly wild time, the expansive acreage of Audubon Park, with its zoo, golf course, and actual patches of swampy wetlands, means peace and quiet are never too far away.
