Went to Nirvana for our five year anniversary, both the food and service were amazing! I highly recommend dining in, the atmosphere is delightful. The service staff is attentive and polite. Best meal I've had in a long time!

This Hotel is not just decorated in Indian style but also serves true Indian taste. The dishes are prepared by an expert cook from Mumbai as per the waiters. The range of veg dishes are also large.

Naturally flavorful Indian cuisine set in a decorative ambiance. They offer you the choice of a buffet or a menu. The choice is diverse and you can take your pick as per your taste and mood. Parking available on the street outside.

Nice ambience and good choice in the Menu. Their Kashmiri naan was good . So were the gravies . Bit spicy. Parking was a problem ( construction going on ).

The Nirvana delivers good to worst Indian food. It depends on who is chef and what mood is he in!!. I don't believe there is someone supervision the quality and... More

We ordered delivery on our last night. The restaurant doesn't offer delivery. It was through a delivery service called NOLA food delivery. The food was great and a nice break from the Cajun and Creole meals I'd been indulging in. Between three girls, we ordered 3 entrees and it was more than enough. We would've been fine with just 2... The food was good, the staff was friendly and it wasn't very far from downtown (convention center). Would've liked it even more if the menu had more appetizer options. The curry was delicious and very close to homemade taste.

Nirvana's probably the best Indian food in the New Orleans area, but we don't have a lot of options. A couple of years ago, I'd probably have rated it a level higher, but the quality doesn't seem as high these days--especially on the lunch buffet. On our most recent visit, many things on the buffet looked and tasted the same.... More

We went here on Christmas 2015. My mom's first time for Indian Cuisine. It was wonderful. The food was excellent and came out hot. Service was good for a Holiday and the restaurant was bustling. We were treated so warmly! A definite go back to and recommended to anyone!

Description
Established in 1982

Welcome to the Nirvana Indian Cuisine. Please take a few minutes to look around. The paintings and sculptures you are seeing are windows to India's ancient spiritual world. After visiting the curry houses of Europe, especially of London, my late father (Har G. Keswani) was inspired to bring Indian culture and food to New Orleans. Since 1982, the Keswani family has presented the unique cuisine of India to the New Orleans community.

Staying in Garden District

Neighborhood Profile
Garden District
Head to the Garden District for the full-on New Orleans experience replete with quaintly clanking streetcars, proudly grandiose antebellum mansions, picture perfect avenues lined with live oaks loaded down with Spanish moss, and a wealth of beautiful churches and many more architectural marvels. Even a brief excursion here makes plain why it’s called the Garden District. So, when you visit be sure to give yourself ample time for admiration at a languidly slow pace befitting such gentile strand of riverside living and to allow you to maximize each opportunity to stop and smell the roses – and whichever other blooms you might come across. While taking it all in, you’d do well to dine at one of the city’s most beloved destinations for regional cuisine. Gourmands from far and wide (and right round the corner) swear the age-old Commander’s Palace is the best restaurant in town – and have been doing so since it opened back in 1880.
