We were looking for something to eat after midnight during the week, and my husband found Jimani's through a search for something open late. I was a little hesitant when I walked in because it looks like your typical bar, but on the side they had a grill and the cook was grilling up burgers. So I tried one, and... More

This place is always a blast. A bunch of really great people and it's open very late. The food is great - which probably drives the patrons here. Any trip to New Orleans is not complete until you hit Jimani.

We were in New Orleans over the Christmas holiday and as always has to stop in the Jimani. This place is a great bar to get away from the tourist traps in the French Quarter. Lots of sports on TV, trivia and great music. The beers are cold, drinks are strong and the bar food is great. This is the... More

wen't in for a quick drink and the service was quite good. However, there was an even better story having to do with the history of the bar.

Decided that I needed to just escape and enjoy watching a Saints game away from the tourist destinations. A friend suggested this pub - it's a local hang out. Wasn't exactly what I expected but it was great. Had to go up to the bar to order, they were out of the usual staples ie: wings. All in all the... More

So I went there one night to watch the Cubs game in the World Series and I loved it. The staff was good and the crowd was fun. The bartender turned the sound on for those of us who wanted to watch. So the next night we went back and it was a totally different story. It was the same... More

Usually stay at the N. O. Hilton and have a couple of drafts at Jimani's. Not sure why - music far to loud, but good draft beer and edible pub grub

I've been to New Orleans several times and I realise some places are dingy dive bars but this dump takes the cake. The bar tender was nasty, drunk and inattentive. It was impossible to get service, when she did come over she was surly and messed up the order several times. Rolled her eyes every time we asked for something.... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
