Extraordinary room, truly professional wait staff, excellent menu, outrageous wine list and WOW - the food is extraordinary. New Orleans is a dining town; this is one of its best.

I have dined at August three times in hopes that I had been there on a bad day but after three times I realized it just isn't that good. I love foie gras but could not finish my appetizer as it was just awful. They tried too hard to prepare it and just ruined it. Our wait person did not... More

That's the best place in NO. I am a business traveler, and have been to a lot of different restaurants in NO. All I have to say that this is the best location to have an excellent food! Service is beyond expectation, wine list is rich and full, cooking is wis no word the best of the city!

We had the degustation menu with wine pairings....Wow! There were no misses, no mediocre or so-so courses. Every dish was very well balanced with flavors, textures, color, and presentation. It was a feast for the senses. The service was excellent. This chef de cuisine is on his or her game and in tune with the customers. Each course built on... More

We came here late in the evening, hungry, and with a desire to try everything, so at the waitresses excellent recommendation we shared numerous appetizers and three desserts. My favorite part of any meal is the dessert, just saying. Everything we tried was good but the Gnocchi was outstanding. Why this is not an option for an entree, I have... More

My husband and I consider ourselves foodies, and are always excited to check out restaurants owned by famous chefs. I had seen a fair amount of John Besh on television cooking shows and couldn't wait to try his restaurant. This fine dining restaurant is a well oiled machine. The service is impeccable and the food, is outstanding. My mouth is... More

Great original seafood dishes. Old New Orleans cocktails. It is a bit pricey and the serving sizes are more tapas. But would recommend.

Chef John Besh restaurant. Amazing food and service. Pricey but worth it. Very accommodating when requesting a dish that was part of a prix fixe meal.

The cuisine at August is contemporary French with a focus on local ingredients, inspired by Chef John Besh's classical training here and in Europe, and by the depth of his own Southern Louisiana roots. August is located in an historic 19th century French-Creole building in New Orleans' Central Business District. August was a semifinalist for the 2012 and 2013 James Beard Awards Outstanding Restaurant, and has been selected by Gayot as a top 40 Restaurant in the United States. The Times Picayune has named it as one of their top 10 Restaurants the last two years in a row.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
